Snapped a pic on the way out of the Allegheny NF after a spontaneous overnight camp. Did a little kayaking, and some exploring of forest roads. Slept like crap but overall a nice reset.

I'd skip modern Optima. The brand has been low-balled as far as QA and components after company purchase, in order to extract maximum value for the new owners.

I removed my 3 year old Dakar HD's and threw my stock leafs back on. I also replaced the 5160's with some 4600's. I lost 3" of lift in the rear lol. Didn't get to the front today, but should tomorrow.

Plan is to swap 4600's all around, replace the pads and rotors, and install air bags in the rear. Oh, and swap my 255's to some 265's.

Truck is cali squatting right now and I don't see how people chose the style, it's not for me. Losing 3" on my truck makes it feel like a Maverick now.

    No.

Reason for going back to "stockish", just kind of miss the way my truck was before I "improved" it.

So far I’m happy with it. Time will tell. It was a tad faded and used 303 protectant on it and it looks better. Will see how this works. Not bad for $200.

That’s why only went with the 3 leaf progressive AAL. I think keeping it as close to stock height as possible is the way to go (2 inch lift). The lower center of gravity and prowess of the off-road is pretty much all is needed in most situations. A stock off-road will surprise most people in its capabilities IMHO.

I only ever wanted 2", ended up over 3 and dealt with it. Not bad by any means, but I hate having to buy a tire to fill the wheel well. I bought some 265/70-17's to put on. They are about the best size for my needs and wants IMO.

I thought about going the AAL route, but decided I wanted to try stock height again. If I find I don't like it, AAL here I come lol.

Oh, and yeah, stock my truck could go anywhere I wanted it to.

I hear ya. Going too tall especially with bigger tires has its purpose i.e., rock crawling. But most trails are no challenge for a stock off-road, especially with the crawl control and multi-terrain select and skill.

One of the finance girls at the dealership asked me what I was going to do to the truck. I said Drive it...haha
Little did I know that the bulk of my disposable income would now belong to one Lunar Rock Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 Off Road PrettyGirl.jpg aka pretty girl.
    :spending:
In the 4 weeks since I drove it off the lot:
    Retrax bed cover (love it)
Tyger fury side steps (so nice)
    Bed mat
    Light up radio knobs
    Bumper caps
    next:
    taillights with a smoke lens
remove as much interior chrome as possible
