I'm intrigued by this. How are these sealed/mounted and what are they mounted to? Are those ports I see in the side there? What is that?

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/68554-finally-working-tunes-taco.html

Here is the thread on it. I have been on the road working so finishing it off has been on the back burner. The box is .80 ft^3 within 3 sq/in with driver displacement. The amp "rack" is simple because I have two set of crossovers on the reverse side andbeing able to flip it to tune is pretty nice. I still tinker form time to time. I am up grading the amp and front components, if I dont purchase another car in the near future.

The important things were the deadening and proper installation that makes it sound pretty good, if I do say so. I would really like to get together with other Taco owners and actually compare set ups and share ideas on system tuning.

Check out this post on my build. Sums it up pretty good:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...asons-long-travel-toy-taco-3.html#post2714504

As to the question about ports, no...that's Toyota's attempt at making a low profile cup holder in the back seat. It's retarded.

    EDIT - extra info:

Weekend in the garage when it was pooring rain outside. It's nothing too fancy. Took the stock metal brace out and dynamatted the shit out of it. Put it back in and used home depot foam to fill in all the cracks. It's not completely air tight but it keeps me happy. Replaced the cubbys with some 1/2" mdf cut to fit and voila!

I like it bro, I can't take credit for the box. I got this off of a member on here who had it built. The enclosure for the sub goes 1/2 way across the top portion of the amp rack. I was kind of nervious about it when I saw it, but WOW! This thing sounds as good as normal sized subs I have had in other cars in the past! How do you like your JL?

    a lot lol
Well looks like i have to rebuild my system. I had 2 12" Type R's in a sealed box, powered by a MTX1000XD. I guess the 1000XD was to much for the R's? They are officialy blown. I had my system in the back seat with the amp behind the seat. Thats what is the bad part about having a 1st gen double cab. NO ROOM! anyone have an idea for something behind the seat? i wouldnt mind 8's if they sounded good! i just cant stand not having bass. :(

In my last truck I had three 12's driven by a 1000watt mono block sub amp, 2.0 farrad capacitor, eights in the doors and tweeters galore. DVD in the dash and headrest screens and even a Playstation. I'm not going to spend that kind of money again so I'm just running stock crap. It sucks. A lot.

Very cool man. Too bad the newer access cabs aren't like that. I could crank out those baffles for the subs like crazy. Access cab guys would have a really easy way to add subs.

As long as you line the floor good with sound deadening, you're good. It's a great compromise and it does NOT have the canned food sound. I only lined the inside of the frame. Next rainy day i'm gonna pull the carpet back and do the outside too.

As for the JL's ...funny you should ask...I just replaced the subs in my Tundra with the JL W1v2's. Before I put them in I dropped em in the Taco first. The w1's fit great but I don't think there's enough depth (or airspace) to run the w0's. I'm running the w1's with a JL 500/1 and it THUMPS for some tiny ass speakers with minimal airspace.
