    Hello,

I am buying the OME Dakar Heavy leaf pack for my 2020 Tacoma, as I carry a lot of weight in the bed at all times. My question is how long can I run the Leaf pack if at all with the stock suspension? I do plan on getting the Eibach Stage 1 kit within a month or two. I am sure there is some information on this somewhere, but at the moment I do not have time to research. Just running 265/75/16 Wildpeaks with a Camper shell. Thanks so much for the feedback!

You can’t. The OEM shocks aren’t long enough. You’ll probably fully extend the shock over any bump. Luckily rear shocks are cheap, just get some bilstein 5160s

I got over 4 inches of lift unloaded in my 2nd gen with the heavys. Even with a bed full of mulch and rocks they only sagged about an inch. The dakars are for loads and still provide 3 inch lift. At least in my case it did. My 5100s acted like limit straps. It sucked.

You want a heavy pack just for a camper shell? That pack is for like 600+ lbs.

Couple things; you don't want to run HD Dakars with stock rear shocks. You can buy rear shocks for cheap - just save a little bit more, then install. You also don't want to be lifted 2-3" in the rear with no front lift, at least I don't think you do. If you're only considering the Dakars because you don't like sagging when you have weight, but also don't care about lift, you can check into airbags for the rear.

Also, heavy is for super heavy loads. I run the mediums with a high clearance rear (no swing out). And even when I do load it heavy (like a yard of gravel, which is 2000lbs), it will sag a bit but not much. Recommend getting the medium and if you want more add the leaf

Note that your posts are slightly confusing because they imply that leaf springs are not part of the suspension which is not true. By suspension are you referring to coil-overs for your front suspension or perhaps to shock absorbers?

I'm running a 300lb "ripcord wedge". I found the stock suspension to be pretty inadequate when dealing with anything but the smoothest roads (on the bump stops way too easily). I added icon progressive helpers. Lift put it at about empty stock height while loaded for camping and the ride is significantly better even hucking it at the Alaska highway. Might be an interim option for you.
