I can't wait to hear about the "charging wars" that will sure to happen. Kind of like the "parking wars" that happen in the neighborhoods where people don't have garages to park. These people will be running extension cords out to charge their vehicles over night and their neighbor will to going out in the middle of the night to take the extension cord over to their vehicle for free charging. You know it's going to happen. I read some where that approx. 1/3 of drivers don't have garages to park a vehicle in, so it's going to be a problem.
And then when someone walking down the side walk trips over said extension cord and breaks a wrist, law suits are sure to follow.

Sometimes it feels like nobody has ever seen an electric car or an EV charger

Consider how much work it is to maintain and constantly refuel gas stations. Adding an outlet to charge a car is relatively easy.

I don’t think I want to hangout at a gas station for four hours to get the equivalent of half a tank of fuel.

Last weekend I was at Costco with the family, I almost got run over by a guy speeding through the parking lot trying to jockey for position in the line for gas. People were doing 40 mph right next to pedestrians. Honking, swearing out the window, cutting in line.. The lines were so backed up they went out into the street. Complete gridlock for the back half of the parking lot. People couldn't even back out of their parking spots because the lines for gas were blocking everything

They see that 75 cent discount and all patience and respect goes out the window, like wild animals

The distribution of fossil fuels isn't exactly smooth sailing either

If supercharger station charge times are anything to go by, you won't have to.

I've watched, but after I'm done pumping my tank I kinda lost interest after I left the station...so, dunno

@OZ-T not sure if I should bring science and actual use into this discussion. Could be difficult for some folks to follow.

    https://harbourair.com/harbour-airs-all-electric-aircraft-operates-first-point-to-point-test-flight/

    https://heartaerospace.com/es-30/

It has started - electric planes. Electric cars, steam, first plane, ICE, all started similar - with limited power, range, various challenges to overcome.
Put into actual use brought about more technical advancements, and of course change, that folks resisted.

You'd be surprised what the difference is between your time at gas stations compared to mine at charging stations. I nearly always charge during other downtime, like parked in my garage or while having lunch. You have probably wasted more time pumping gas in the last year than I have charging.

    But, I’m old, so…

I want to be able to push my truck backward until it clicks 3 times…and when I drop that brake hang on for dear life.

You missed my point. Approx. 1/3 of vehicle owners today don't have a garage to park their car, leaving them with having to run an extension cord out to the curb where their car is parked. Get enough of em doing this and it's bound to happen where someone's neighbor is going to take the extension cord from their neighbor and plug in their car to charge over night.
