    Issue with dividend payouts like that is the principal is flat OR negative, taking all the value to dividend OR actually taking the value out of the company into the dividend.

    Berkshire (SP?) Hathaway (think I got that spelling) is the opposite. They do NO dividends, and instead it's all principal. This way, YOU choose when you pay taxes. At least that's Buffet's reasoning for it.

    Tilting hard into DRIP when the broad market is down for purposes of share accumulation is not the worst strategy. There are tax implications, to be sure.

    Historically growth and value cyclically outperform one another. I'm a proponent of a balance between the two.
