Part of today's fun and games was ramming my arm up inside the dock to change the tie downs. Whoever installed the only moving parts on the entire thing obviously wasn't thinking of himself at the time. All said, I can't complain, these were never designed to be outside and they've lasted through 12 or 13 years of 4 season weather. I'm finally calling it on account of rust. :D

PS, they were "worn out" when I got them.

How do you like that Ferris? Does it ride smooth with the spring suspension?

    Self checkout:
    I hate the damn thing.

    1) I need to get my glasses to read it.
    2) The only pleasure in shopping is to have a pretty cashier.
    3) Even thought they have eliminated a job I get no discount for doing said job.
    4) There always seems to be a clueless nitwit in front of me that takes 5X longer than needed.

Reluctantly I will use it if I only have a few items and the line is long.

I’ve been asked to coach soccer and be the den leader (or whatever they’re called) for cub scouts. With my lack of patience and anxiety, I’m out. I’m not too happy with how either is going, along with school. Some of these kids need to be disciplined. The parents also, they treat it like social hour and don’t pay attention to what their kids are doing.

I won't use them. Period. I pay cash for almost everything <$200, except fuel. Now if there was a 15-20% discount? Maybe. Until then? Not even once. If the line up is too long, I'll shop elsewhere.

Yeah I’ve got anxiety as well. It’s already bad enough without me trying to control other peoples kids.

Every time we go somewhere like that we realize our kids really aren’t that bad

I don't mind self checkout most of the time for the stores I shop in.

What I DO mind is when there are the overly sensitive scales in the bag area that trigger on any little thing or when the weight is wrong on the item so it triggers anyway. Very seldom occurance where I shop, but drives me up the wall.

Pro tip: when an attendant fixes it for you, remember their userID / passcode for how to remove a double scanned item. Makes self checkout WAY more tolerable. Not my fault their security protocol sucks and they made the UID and passcode the same 3 digit employee number. #GreyHat

The McDonalds near my house sometimes refuses to take the order at the register. They walk you over to their ordering kiosk in the middle of the store. I just stand there and let them work the machine because I'm too lazy to get with the program and order my own food. What's next I gotta go in the back and cook the fries for them?

Banks are another one that are pushing toward using a machine instead of dealing with a human. I go inside the bank to make a deposit with a human. If I wanted to use the ATM, I'd do that outside.

Yes, super smooth. I have a 25 HP Kioto tractor that I used to cut the back with, it is a huge difference. The smooth ride allows for a LOT more speed.

People won't use self checkout but have no problems filling their plate at a buffet.

    Just joking...
Self checkouts suck because they eliminate jobs, I'm just jealous because my job hasn't been eliminated yet. :anonymous:

Self checkouts exist because people don't want to work and the company cannot fill the job except with a machine

You joke but a friend of mine is an HR rep for Wal-Mart. His callout rate for register staff so bad they basically have to double staff that area so enough people show up to be tolerable.
