I would love to have the setup that runs off NAT gas and automatically switches over. Right now I kill breakers especially the main and feed back through my camper plug with my generator.

 

Oh yea….
If you don’t want a auto start stuff ,and the state/city allows a lockout, You can do it yourself
And have a electrician do the final hookup…

 

Neighbor has the auto start/natural gas, nice setup. We loose power a couple of times a year, we are on a well.

 

I want to install a gen disconnect in my box, but all my slots are currently full. A friend told me about these new single-slot double breakers. Square D Homeline 20-amp/20-amp 1-Pole Tandem Circuit Breaker in the Circuit Breakers department at Lowes.com If I can find the correct type for my panel, I'm going to make enough space so I can run my house off the generator. The gen I have is already set up to run off propane, and I've got a 1000 gal propane tank out back. I don't think an auto switch is necessary for my needs. Just being able to power everything without the need for multiple extension cords is enough for me.

 

Unless you have a newer Homeline panel these 20/20 or any quad breaker will not fit your panel. Take a picture of the label in your panel I can tell you if they will fit.

I haven't investigated yet what will fit in my panel, but I believe it has to be a type QP breaker.

 

Well Mike it appears you have a 30 space 200 amp panel. If it were me I would do a panel change out to a Square D 40/80 with interlock for gen set. Not a fan of mix and match different manufacturers of breakers and panel. Square D is all I install good quality no issues. You do what you want.

 

I'll look into doing a swap. Do you generally have to have a permit to swap panels or is that something I can do myself?
