I have added a few breakers to existing panels. But no, I've never done a whole panel.

Middle Tennessee is a very hospitable place to come visit...

    Good morning everyone,

Mother Nature, the Fickle Witch, is giving us mid July temps in late September. Oh well, could always be worse.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I can, and will not, neither confirm nor deny such activity nor the legal attributes of such,,, but you can back feed a panel by removing a 220 circuit (2 x 110, probably 30-40 amp) from the panel, replace it with a 220 feed from a gen, turn off the main panel feed, and start the gen. Note "turn off main panel feed" FIRST. Also, only turn on breakers for the required items as more than likely your gen cannot feed the entire house's requirements. An AC or a dryer circuit may be a good pick for the back feed. Last note is to ensure the wiring for the gen set plug to the breakers is properly done with the 2 power wires and the common and grounds wired to the panel. Yes, this is not correct and a transfer panel/switch to the correct way, but in a pinch....
