Would it be wise to have skids before sliders if going off road ?

265/75/16 ftw Cali raised sliders, have had two sets, first with a kickout and rhino lined which just chipped off. Sold them for the same as I bought them, used. Second set is no kickout and powder coated, new. I’ve replaced my trd lift block with a toytec (deaver) progressive aal. Very nice results. Need heavier coils for the front. My bed mat and I have had some issues, all things bed related I’ve been on the fence with. Total chaos for bed stiffeners if I bought another set but now I have the Cali raised.

I would get sliders first. You have some skid stock but that belly is just hanging out waiting to get chewed up.

Yes aggreed. I have a TRD skid+RCI trans skid and no T case skid. Also Westcott sliders. More than I will need but insurance against an error in judgement.

I also did the exhaust reroute-the factory Y Pipe is very prone to damage.

Really why not wait for a sale and make a list? Shipping heavy bits is expensive enough and better to buy them together if you can (I didnt lol). I have seen black friday sales on these items cone around year after year so unless you are going to bash the truck immediately maybe start with tires on stock wheels, the little stuff, tune, and some of the must haves.

I have the TRD exhaust and think its great. I didnt want to pay full price though and didnt care for the tip- so I was patient and bought a used one from a TW member and had an exhaust shop cut it to fit my stock tailpipe and do the reroute at the same time.

Looking at my truck and the current Firestone tires, the listed height of these is 30.5" and the height of some of the offroad tires I've been shopping is around 32.7". Won't that make a noticeable difference in the stance alone? That's essentially a 2" lift on the height of the truck (while not raising the height inside of the wheel well via a lift kit).

But, generally speaking, a tire like the BF Goodrich LT 265/75 16's would be a noticeable improvement in stance, right?

More than likely it will look better than the firestones. Like any AT tire would look better than any road tire. In my opinion at least.

Guys, thanks for all the helpful replies. I think offroad tires are going to get me 80% of what I'm after given that this is a work truck. Having a shell and ladder rack on top, it can only be so "cool" regardless of how much money I throw at exterior mods.
