New head unit installed after work today. Still a few bugs to work out but already sounds better than the stock HU, and looks sweet.20220920_180131.jpg

I built a custom "OverWater" rack. I needed a unit that would clear the bed just slightly and still have some design intentionality. I built this for around 300 (didn't have to pay the the bends on the brake at the metal shop)

Washed the truck. J/k, fuck that.

Another successful Moab trip on the books!

Wife and I spent last weekend doing the White rim Road in Canyonlands. Up the potash road, around the white rim, over and out mineral bottom, then across Gemini bridges. We camped the first night in Airport campground. The next night was supposed to be Potato Bottom, but being so close to the river with no access is bullshit. Plus we got there at like 3pm. So we drove on and found a great campsite above north mineral canyon right on the canyon edge. Way better.

    Great trip.

A little shade and a great view for lunch

Looks similar to an Atoto Android unit. I have the cheapest Atoto model but it is a great head unit. Love the internet access, youtube videos and great sound from usb and online music apps. ANYTHING is better than a Tacoma stock radio.

Done by me: decals, plastidip, and vinyl. More to come. Not done by me: Icon front/rear suspension; Total Chaos UCA’s; Method wheels/34” Falken tires; Prinsu cab rack/LED light bar; V1Air compressor piped to a 2.5 gallon underbed tank; Pelfreybilt front/rear bumpers; Smittybilt front winch.
Found out I apparently failed to tighten my lugs enough after 2 were missing. :(:( It was at the end of the big steering knuckle install, I remember putting them on and hitting them with the impact, but I failed to do the final cross-wrench that I normally do. Extremely sickening since I’ve drove the kiddos around twice in two days. New ones are on order and that’ll never be a missed step again.

After that, had a buddy come over and help me find a new noise that’s unfortunately in the front diff. Any feedback on this would be welcome. At low speeds (can really only hear it under 5 mph on smooth road) there’s a slight loping sound. It doesn’t increase with speed though, and when I hit the brakes it goes away. We isolated it to the diff by jacking up the control arm, and spinning the front driver wheel as fast as we could.

During that, went ahead and changed front diff oil, and naturally the drain plug stripped out. Welded a 3/4” flanged nut on and popped loose like a champion.

Lol, I randomly thought about your interior the other day and wondered if you finished it. That answers that! :D

Don't feel too bad, I have a container full of mods I gathered up during the pandemic and for some insane reason I haven't batted an eye at it lol.

I guess opening NLC has satisfied my mod addiction.

Been away from the Tacoma long enough that the battery was dead. I had a month long work assignment in Southern California. I was hoping to see a lot of nice Toyotas but was overall pretty disappointed. A couple nice Tacomas and a sweet firt generation 4runner. Other than that most I saw were either stock or modded to squat. I did order a pop&lock tailgate handle but that install won't take but a beer or two. Thinking about getting the windshield ceramic tinted now to. I'll definitely go with the least amount of tint possible. I've heard even 70% ceramic will help a lot with heat.
Last thing, I've never been a fan of raptor lights on tacomas or anything that doesn't require additional clearance lights but I've always figured to each their own. However, this seems a little ridiculous.

Based on this quality, will 100% be ordering rear kit from TC as well.

    08 Single Cab Tacoma 4x2 2TR engine
Hi, I'm New to this Forum.

I've looked around and have gotten very helpful info.
Want to know if someone can throw me a lifeline :)

    I Have a 08 single cab Tacoma 2WD 2 TR engine.
I have a leak on my rear DIFF and want to know if I can take the rear Diff Housing from 2ndGen with a bigger engine and replace my rear diff housing.

I have a similar issue that this guy encountered.
    take a look for reference:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/looking-for-a-new-rear-differential.681762/

May I mention I live in Costa Rica Toyotas here are huge, Hilux, Land Cruisers are everywhere TACOMAS not so much, and finding parts is not that hard but Not a lot of people have knowledge over here working on Tacoma Trucks .... so I wanna ask the real Connaisseurs. :)
I was able to find a Rear diff housing that was on a 2nd gen 4.0L. Mine is 2.7 L.
I'm not gonna change anything from my diff gonna keep the same ratio and gears just planning on replacing the housing.
I wanna buy the part so I can just have my guy take it down put the rear diff in the new housing and mount it back on.

It has the same REar Diff 8-inch case.

My question is will the housing work?

Are the measurements horizontally from the left rear drum to the other right drum the same?

What other factors do I need to take into consideration before purchasing?

Any insight would be of great Help!!
