Good morning. Just found out that the county wants us to hold a Lahar drill next month that will involve my whole school community…400-450 students and staff. From 4 years old on up. Some in wheelchairs, others with various disabilities. One of the benefits of living in the valley near an active volcano. Essentially I need to figure out a way to safely move everyone to high ground in less than 20 minutes. Problem is the route they want us to take…crosses a bridge over the White River (a main tributary) and then takes us up a steep two lane road with no sidewalks. Oh and the route is about 3 miles long Hmm I think this sounds like a script from one of those disaster movies. Oh Well…I’m sure it will be fine…no really…it’s fine. Have a great day. Oof! That’s got a lot of complications to pull off. I understand the need for the drill coming from the public safety/EM side of the house, but that’s one of those things that should go through some table top exercises a few times. Does the school board already have a contingency plan for this in your drills playbook?

 

I agree. I asked for a table top. But the request was rejected. I then requested a member of the safety committee to join us and demanded that they assure me that they would call the drill if deemed unsafe. They agreed. The district has identified a different plan in our playbook, but I was told that they were shifting our route because the neighboring school was now too big to accommodate both of us up the safer, faster, district approved route.

I've got a echocardogram next month then meet with heart doc a few days later.
Got a skin doc appointment day after heart doc.
The other morning I found blood on the pillow. Thought it was a bloody nose cause I had one the next day. Nope it was my ear. Something more for the skin doc to carve up.
Before all those appointments I see the eye doc. That appointment was rescheduled from when I had covid. The same day I see the dentist cause of a cracked tooth.
Not a good year.
Getting old and falling apart.

Yes thats what i had this morning. all was good as they have adjusted my meds. actually reduced one. was suppose to do echogram but EKG and #’s were good so they moved that to next year and went to appts. once a year instead of twice. luck with yours
