This is the real limitor on what the Fed can do with rates. Not just in rate itself, but duration.

Right, but if it's debt-backed you make the runway even shorter. Paying your Visa with your Mastercard ends quickly and badly.

 

Plus there's devaluation to consider. If your debtholders receive worthless dollars for their bond coupons and redemptions, they stop buying those bonds.
