    I'm thinking probably not, for a few reasons: 1) the struts are going to be located at the far-left and far-right extents of the hood, 2) they are fully retracted, and 3) although i haven't looked, there are likely rubber bumpers along the top of the fenders where they meet the engine side and back walls, and radiator support.

    Where there would likely be vibration would be near the middle of the hood, but this is one of the reasons for the hood being stamped / shaped, and also all that support metal underneath.

    @stftaco

    You are probably right.

    Here's a pic of the strut location on the frame/engine compartment.

    [IMG]

    This is the only pic I have with hood open from last year when I installed the Talon CAT skid. It's hard to see the support under the skewp.

    [IMG]

    Here's a nice pic from the top.

    All this whining about the glare from the scoop, seriously! I have never had an issue with the glare and seeing over the damn scoop, come on people where are your big boy pants?

    I have yet to experience it as my Tacoma is still enroute from the factory, however, I imagine based upon the color of the vehicle, the angle of the Sun, and the height of the driver's head above the dash, all contribute whether or not a driver experiences glare. "Big-boy" pants are pretty much irrelevant as a defense if one is involved in an accident. Say one misses the fact there is a pedestrian in front of the vehicle and injures or kills said pedestrian, claiming you didn't see them because of glare will not save you from say, a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

    The things we hear and read on the Internet… Anyway, for what it’s worth, some like it, some don’t. Some find army green to be the best color, some don’t. The more vocal ones are not always the most, but oh boy we hear them.

    Buy for the looks if it pleases you. It may drag a bit more in the wind, does it really matter in the end?

    Agreed, I'm ambivalent either way; my TRD Sport will have it, I'd be just as happy if it didn't. That said, my 28 year old son thinks the Skewp is really kewl.

    I like how it looks on my truck, but I wouldn’t buy another vehicle with one. It definitely sticks up enough to reduce your field of view to make parking even harder (it’s already hard to park with the design of the hood, I imagine the scoop makes it even harder).

    If you're getting glare add another, thicker, phone book to what your are already sitting on... You may need blocks for the pedals as well...

    Hehehehe, but you already knew it, but, I'm _ _ _ ...

    Could always throw a supercharger in there and make the effort to make the scoop "functional" for it?

    @Junkhead

    Like was said...this place is an outlet. Plus, it's easy enough to ignore comments.

    Water under the bridge.

    When I first started driving my Sport, the Skewp did seem to distract me as I was getting use to driving my first new truck. My wife griped about it as she rode shotgun.

    Now, it's not an issue at all and the wife doesn't even complain anymore.

    I don't notice a glare and the skewp does not interfere with me seeing over the hood.

    I've experienced the glare once or twice. I will admit it was so annoying I started looking at those matte decals that wrap around the back and side of of the scoop. The glare comes at a certain angle (time of day) and obviously driving into the sun. The visor cannot block the glare as the sun hits the area behind the scoop and shines up and "under" the visor.

    It's really not the fake scoop, but rather the choices you have to make to get one.
