@Kwikvette you mentioned wanting a CNC plasma table a while back and I mentioned Grind Hard Plumbing Co's Arcdroid.

Paul/Fab Rats just got one and did a little video on setting it up. The inventor of Arcdroid stops by in the second half of the video.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qumWKLvSZg

Arcdroid is definitely providing these guys the units (I wasn't sure before, but after watching more I am now), so they're inclined to say nice things... but it does look like a cool product.

Its a neat idea. Way easier to manage the size. I'm curious what the limitations are - the encoders in those joints have to be suuuuper precise and stay that way for it to be even remotely accurate.

Not sure how much you can glean from this, but the firmware is open-source: https://github.com/ArcDroid/Marlin-ArcDroid

Not a whole lot, their website says its a highly modified version of that.

Looks like the 'optimal' cutting reach is 26" x 15" . Hmmm. I dunno, if I were spending that kind of money, I'd probably look at spending more for a bigger area.

That link is to their fork, so I assume it includes all the modifications.

Can't argue with the money part, but I also haven't even looked at prices. Just nerding out of novel tech.

    That's pretty cool!

Until I saw the price

I'll still look into a dedicated cnc plasma table setup. I've got the plasma cutter, air compressor, and extra computers so it'd just buying the expensive part....the table with tracks/motor/software all in one.

Yeah there’s used one on Craig’s Not far from me 4x4 foot with a primeweld cut60 for $2800 - even if it’s not perfect I’ll take it over something with such a small cutting area for $2500.
