To lift or not to lift, that is the question?

It has been a few day since I took off the front leveling kit, one inch rear block, and diff drop. I hate the way she looks with out a little lift but she ride like a dream! Now I am on the fence about putting on the Billy 5100's and AAL. I am guessing the ride will be different from the the ride I got from the spacer lift, but I am also betting it will not ride like the stock ride. My tires rub ever so slightly when turning on a slope without the lift, and I really love the way she looks with the lift. I am not I huge off-road guys cause I use my bike for that but I do tow my bike and snowmobiles and stuff. If I put the billy's on and the AAL, and don't do the diff drop, I'm wondering how the ride is going to be. Sounds like I will probably get some vibes from the front diff again. Thanks for any input.

 

if I were you I would get either billys and set them at the 1.75" setting or get the eibach 1.6" lift coils. you will still have a pretty decent ride and be very close to level. Leave the rear alone. and you dont need a Diff drop, it has pretty much been determined that it doesn’t really change anything by adding it.

 

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I already have the billy's in hand. I hope I don't get the front diff vibes again!! At the 1.75" how much harsher will the ride be then trd offroad shocks?

 

Is that pic with lift or without?

You may need a small aal with the weight of your cap.

The pic is with front 2.25 front leveling kit and rear tsb w/ 1" block. Love the look, hate the ride. If I go to 1.75" with the billy's your right I might need the AAL. What to do?

 

do you have the TSB rear leafs?

if yes get the billies and set at .85, if no get a 1"aal and set fronts at .85. get new 5100 all four corners and set .85 and you will ride just fine

i have the rear TSB leafs, 5100s all around with front set at .85. rides great, no vibes, no issues

 

I am in same boat. I love the look of your ride Joey! I am debating the 5100 and AAL, but don't want it to ride like shit. I love the stock TRD ride atm but want the look with the slight lift. Let me know how it turns out if you install the Billys.

If I'm gonna lift the truck, I want to lift it. .85 just doesn't seem like enough to me. JMO

 

You could put settings to 0 and add Eibach springs. I believe your lift will be about 3" and hear from others that the ride will be smooth.

 

If you set them to 1.75, the weight of the cap will make you nose high. So it's either 0.85, or the TSB AAL from toytec.

 

Second gen Eibach springs give 1.6" of lift. It's the first-gen eibachs that give 3" of lift.

Thanks....I feel like the AAL is going to be what really changes the way the truck rides? I guess it's 0.85 and a pretty close to stock ride or 1.75 and AAL, a little harsher ride, and the the front diff vibes may come back. Seems like a no brainer but I'm still thinking 1.75 and AAL. I guess I can go .85 and if I really want more I can get the AAL and adjust the setting up front to 1.75.

 

Did you ever try running your lift setup without a diff drop? They are known to cause more vibes than they fix.

I've really never heard of anyone having vibes at the 1.75" setting.

 

I don't have any answers for you regarding your questions...but I can tell you that your truck is so beautiful.

 

No I always had the diff-drop. I'm not planning on putting it back on either. Hope the diff drop was what was causing the vibes. It's not the 1.75" I am worried about as much as it is doing the AAL. I think I will notice the AAL more then anything.

See when you get posts like this it makes dealing with a little harsher ride well worth it!

 

Take that stupid bug deflector off it's doing nothing but making the front end ugly. Without it only one word can describe it...perfection.

Go for the billy's and aal for sure.

btw I have the diff drop and don't have any issues.

 

Ha Ha, the bug deflector was on the truck when I got it, the paint would show some scratches if I took it off now. I don't know if it really does anything, but it matches with the silver/black thing I got going on. So it doesn't bother me. I am not sure I would have bought it but to tell you the truth I kinda like it. I well if we were all the same.... Thanks for the input.

Diff-drop??? Well it could just be the diff in my truck when lifted. Only way to find out!

 

OP, I have my 5100's set at 2.5" with the stock coils. In addition I have a 1.5" aal in the back with 5100's as well.

I had no vibes before or after installing the Toytec front diff drop kit and I only put it on to relief the angles of the CV's.

With that said and I believe most will agree (that have the same setup)that the ride is just as good if not better than stock.
