    So is 1/2 qt
10° C difference for an expandable fluid is a significant #

Please read up on transmission man. Stop spreading bad info. Call any trans shop. 1/2 qt low on fluid is enough to potentially cause shifting issues.

That temp swing is not causing a 1/2 quart expansion lol

His scanner told him 110 degrees, His right in the correct zone... A few degrees will make zero difference in fluid volume.

When I changed refilled my ATF on my 2016 Texas made SR5 at 90k km it was low by almost .5 quart.

I don't think it's a Mexico vs Texas built thing. It must be the machine that fills the trans or whatever.

Except by the time you get under, open the drain at 110° and let the fluid properly drain you may hit a max temp of 113° and start dumping more fluid.
I know that when I started at the proper temp mark, the fluid was 98-99°F by the time it started dripping.

just let you know it’s a Bluetooth connected to my iPhone and I was under the truck and reading it real-time. By the time it almost stopped dripping the temp was 110F.

You should change it if possible. I was more interested in checking the volume so didn’t change it this time but plan to do it again in the near future. The pan gasket and those O-rings should be replaced too if you want to do it perfectly.

Unless the pan gasket is leaking, or you need to repair a shift solenoid, etc… or the tranny is old enough to warrant a filter change (which is well past 60K for these trannies) there was no need to get all messy and drop the pan. That’s why it has a drain plug. Toyota recommends 3-4 drain and fills (via the plug) for the 60K trans service. That will get enough of the old fluid out to be considered new fluid. Dropping the pan only gets you maybe an extra quart anyways (out of 11 or 12 quarts total). The majority of the fluid always stays in the torque converter and the lines.

My 20 year old 1995 F150 trans. started to slip and was low, added 3/4 litre of fluid and it was as good as new. I just sold it and never changed the fluid in 27 years of ownership. Less than litre did make a big difference. So I am not impressed with the Taco tranny and it's shifting. I took a used 2018 sport for a test drive and thought there was something not quite right with trans. So I ordered a new 2019 and has the same issue.

In over 3 years of ownership I have never tried the ECT. Someday LOL. May try a tune.

Modern assembly facilities, including in Mexico, use very expensive fill machines for anything that holds fluid and is pressurized/sealed. They pull a designated amount of vacuum and monitor that amount for a designated time depending on the system to verify its leak free before filling it. Often times there are electrical connections to engage solenoids and cycle things.

The one’s I’ve used a factory setting were prone to error and oftentimes overridden to keep the line moving. I’d really bet the problem with Tacomas being hit-or-miss low from the plant on tranny fills starts there.
