Maybe. I'll have to take a closer look at it I guess.

I'm considering the Vertex dampers at all 4 corners. I was originally leaning towards the Bilstein 6112 combo with 600# springs, but that only gives me performance off-road and a harsher ride on-road from the information I gathered. I didn't know if anyone was running the Vertex coils at a lower lift height; 1.5-2" is what I'm looking for in the front.

Here's the planned setup when the truck is paid off.

    ECGS Bushing

2020 TRD Pro Wheels / Nitto Ridge Grappler 265/75/R16 (+5% tire Diameter)

    Current Weight:
120 lbs fixed load in bed
    Steel frame sliders
    Aluminum engine skid
    ARB Steel recovery point (20ish#)
    Tri-Fold hard bed cover

    Future Weight:
    full aluminum skids
    27F battery
    aluminum roof rack

I was mostly concerned with the rear Vertex Shocks because they say they need some lift to work, but I compared a few dampers to them and I THINK I'd be fine from the 1.5"+ the Icon RTX would give me based on the Toytec dampers. I can always go stage 2-3 on the Icon leaf pack to get more height, but I'm mostly concerned with the shock bottoming out before hitting the rear bump stop, damaging the shock body.

Rear Shocks, Tallest compressed to shortest

Toytec Boss 2.5 Aluma Series (The complete kit suggests AAL for 1.5-2" lift as the low cost option)
    Extended Length: 24.94
    Collapsed Length: 16.67

    Bilstein 5100 - extended (4" lift recommended, 33-319070)
    Extended Length: 26.38
    Collapsed Length: 16.48

RC V3 Rear (2.5-5.5" lift recommended)
    Extended Length: 26.06"
    Collapsed Length: 16.03"

RC Vertex 2.5" Adj Rear Shocks (3.5" lift recommended)
    Extended Length: 26.06"
    Collapsed Length: 15.66"

King Remote Res Rear (1.5-3" of lift recommended)
    Extended Length: 24.383
    Collapsed Length: 15.541

    Fox 2.0 Performance (2-3" lift, 985-26-118)
    Extended Length: 24.8"
    Collapsed Length: 15.2

Eibach Pro-Truck Sport Rear (0-1" lift recommended)
    Extended Length: 24.09"
    Collapsed Length: 14.92"

    Fox 2.0 Performance (0-2" lift, 985-26-117)
    Extended Length: 23.8"
    Collapsed Length: 14.7"

    Icon 2.5 VS Series (57805p)
    Extended Length: 24.35
    Collapsed Length: 14.22

    Bilstein 5160
    Extended Length: 23.63"
    Collapsed Length: 14.22

    OME Nitro Charger Sport (60091)
    Extended Length: 23.93"
    Collapsed Length: 14.17"

Bilstein 4600 (Made for OEM height, 24-265973)
    Extended Length: 22.9
    Collapsed Length: 14.090

    Bilstein 5100
    Extended Length: 22.94"
    Collapsed Length: 14.02"

My end goal is the ability to ride smoothly in town and on the interstate with my lightly modified truck, and have the ability to turn up the dampening when off-roading with a 2" lift up front and 1.5" lift in rear.

Just buy the whole RC 3.5 kit and run 285’s. Done deal.

There's a few thing's that I'm not comfortable with at that height and tire size. Cutting/rubbing, down travel, unsprung weight, CV angles, drive line angles, etc.

I'd prefer to stay in the 1.5-2" Front, 1-2" Rear, with the slightly oversized tire. I'll just have to take the risk when the time comes and do some testing. The alternative is to use the non-adjustable Eibach, Toytec, or RC V3 in the rear. I don't wish to use their dual tube N3 that they recommend.

I completely understand. I did have to do the ECGS bushing even with the 3” loaded struts I had before. I did the boot slide mod as well. No driveline issues either if it’s any consolation.

Shocks Surplus dropped an interesting bit of info on the Vertex line here:

They must mean in design because the rear dampers are a bit off a direct copy.

Good to know! I’ve loved my Vertix coilovers and rear resi shocks! Had them on about a year and they’ve done good on and off road.

Also curious. I might off-road twice a year and daily the rest of the time. I'm in central TN where there's not a lot of public unpaved roads within 1hr. I'm not desert racing and I don't have "fuck you" money to spend. I'm sure Kings are superior, but likely 5x overkill for me.

He ain't comin' back. He's a sheep. The Vertex are very capable! People that hate on Rough Country are the same people that have never used a product and followed along like good sheep do.

No one is debating quality of Kings. This isn't a discussion about Kings. We are here to talk about Vertex and the amazing job they've done for those who choose to use them.

The dick riding on both sides is going hard.

From my perspective, I'm trying to buy a suspension that rides better than the Bili setups on-road and has the ability to be turned up for off-road. RC is a TN based company and that makes me compelled to purchase from them also if their product meets expectations.

I have yet to find someone who has complained about the Vertex line of dampers on any platform. So while I respect the Kings, Icons, etc etc etc that's not what this thread is for.
