Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Booth seem ok. The 2011 has a new frame and LCA. The other is one owner, sport and seems like it has been properly taken care off.

I’d go with the 2012 Trd Sport

The 2nd truck definitely has hidden rust, you can see where they sprayed over the rust where the bubbles are showing over the rubberized black spray paint they used.

the 1st truck also looks like they sprayed black paint over the frame but not sure from the pictures.

They both are from the northeast so I would definitely look over the frames closer before you buy.

Ask for more pictures of the first trucks undercarriage if you can. The 2nd truck looks bad.

Very hard to know without seeing in person or at least a lot more detail. Like the OP said, first one has had a frame replacement. Which is fine, but as you can see, the parts that weren't replaced look super rusty. Second truck has been coated so hard to say how bad the rust is on that one. Either way, I'd be inspecting these thoroughly for rust issues that may bite you later.

Based off what limited info is available the 2012 would be my pick but personally I'd probably be looking elsewhere for something without a history of rust. Although that's easier for me to say being here in CA.

Im at a loss after reading this.
    I bought a new 17 Tacoma for $22600 with 0 miles.

$16900 for a 11 year old truck with 1820000 miles.
$18900 for a 10 year old truck with 150000 miles.
Knock $10000 off each of those prices and may get closer to a realistic price.

Sorry to break it to you, but those are very realistic prices. They may be a lot higher than you think these vehicles are worth but the current market has dictated those prices. They may not be reasonable in your opinion but they're definitely realistic. With vehicle prices the way they are currently it's probably smartest to hold out as long as you can with whatever you currently have. In 2-3yrs the used car market should hopefully cool off and get back to business as usual. Until then, we're all kinda SOL unless you're a seller and not a buyer.

Im not surprised at your comments. I see this all the time. Maybe in your world these prices are reasonable but not in mine. I recently purchased a new Mazda CX5 to join my low mileage 14 Sienna and low mileage 17 Tacoma so I wont have to pay these prices again anytime soon. I sold my classic car that I stopped driving last year because of the gas prices and paid cash for the Mazda. No car payments. No worries except the price of gas for the next 20 years.

    Thanks for all the replies.

RLMoody, the market sets the prices. I have been looking for the right Tacoma for a couple of months and these are the prices. We may be in a bubble but until it bursts, if you want a vehicle, you're going to have to pay the inflated prices. That's the nature of the market. 2 years ago TSLA stock was $120, now it's over $1000 and two weeks ago it was $1200. That's the market and things that we buy and sell (trade) go up and go down in value, according to the supply and demand forces. Simple as that.

Seems you misread / misunderstood my post. I made no specific judgement as to the prices being reasonable or not. Plus, that's a subjective assessment as everyone values things differently. All I was stating, like @tp44 seems to understand as well, that if you're buying a vehicle in this market that your hands are tied. The market price is the market price. If you need a vehicle, you need a vehicle and are stuck with these prices.

What kind of options did you get on this $22.6k 17 Taco? I’m guessing it’s 2WD?

My 2010 was $30k brand new. Pretty sure my first Gen purchased new in 2000 was more than $22.6k.

2012 looks better overall, taken care of, design refresh, trd, stock parts, etc. seems about right priced id probably negotiate.

I like the looks of the 2012 more than the 2011, personally.

The 2011 SHOULD have a longer life since the frame swap was done they are supposed to address all the issues of rust and parts breaking during that repair.

$17-19k for a 10 year old truck with 159-182,000 miles seems like a lot but... the truck when maintenance is done should last up to 300,000+ miles. If you drive 12,000/ year that is 10 years at +-$1,700/ year of use.
