Lift block problem ?

Hi , i have lifted my tacoma and added some 33" tire with some offset and when i look at the truck from the rear the offset isn't the same ..

i have checked the mags , i have brought it to toyota and they are telling me the lift block may have been machined wrong , they mesured everything else and they are telling me that the block is the problem

i also hade them check to see if the bed was just missaligned .

has anyone hade a issue like this befor?

 

The block would dictate height, not side to side, if that’s what you’re referring to. If it’s a side to side difference in the rear, there’s a good chance the install of the blocks is the issue, the rear axle wasn’t centered. take pics, that might help if this isn’t what you’re referring to.

 

I remembering seeing on here that they come like that from the factory and are offset on purpose.

 

The rear lift will have no effect on the offset of the wheels.. I'm unsure how they go together for this question. Lift blocks just space the leaf packs up and everything gets aligned by a nub in the axle. Wheel fitment should not be related to the lift blocks.

I've heard of beds being misaligned but the spacers should not have much effect on that either since they connect under the frame. All lift spacers could possibly do is give you higher wheel gap on one side if one was taller than the other.

Sounds like a typical dealer though to immediately blame any aftermarket part. Can you post some pics to what you're talking about?

 

yes i understand what your saying and i agree, but toyota is saying the block may have been machined wrong so the pin isn't right , and i have brought it to the garage at first they though the diff was not in the right spot but after looking at it again they say its fine and so did toyota

the diffrence of offset is minimal , like 1/2 inch

Moreso was asking for pics of what is going on underneath. Are the wheels new with this install as well? If so did you check the offsets of each of them before installing? It should be stamped into the back of the wheels.

Judging from the fitment of your other wheels, that's all I can see as being a problem from the provided pictures unless the passenger rear has a hub spacer on it. Swap the wheels side to side and see if the issue follows the wheel. Could be a misprint.

 

Kinda looks like bed may be off some.
1/4” would be the fix.
My 08 had the same issue.

 

i see what your saying , but as i said its been checked by toyota and another garage the wheel are all the same , i guess the next step is to do like you said and switch the wheels , i will try it tomorow but why would they lie lol?

 

This has been discussed at length in other threads. This difference in offset is typical from the factory. It'll be ok don't stress and for damn sake don't go chasing something that isn't there. Had this with my 2003 TRDOR, my 2015 TRD OR and my current 2018 and my buddies 2019 has the same issue.

 

I've had it happen to me, that's the only reason I'm saying to check yourself. Luckily I caught it before the tires were installed. The wheels came in the correct boxes but one had the wrong specs.

Bed looks like it's aligned perfect in the pics.

I've seen a few mm difference side to side, but this is like an inch. I can see why the OP is unhappy about it.

 

so you are saying if i take the block out and put my stock wheels and tires on i will have the same difference in offset?

 

Like the lift block on the rear axle they said was the problem?

 

i dont know yet but the guys at toyota are telling me i have to take all the u bolts off and check to see if the blocks are ok ... i will find out on monday but seems a litle bit far fetched...

 

That’s interesting cause I’ve seen this on a stock truck with nothing aftermarket, but idk what they did if they even fixed it

 

Since a lift block has a hole and a dowel to match the leaf spring and the differential mount pad for alignment, it would be pretty obvious that there is a miss alignment between the 2 locating points.



A simple way to verify an alignment issue with the block, the leaf spring and the differential mount pad is simply look at the 3 components from the rear. They should all line up.



This is a side view of my lift block in my truck. You can see that they are all in alignment. The U-bolt should also be at 90° of the axle tube.

 

I was just typing this out but I don't have close ups of my setup (or spacers lol).

You'd have to try hard on purpose to mess the rear spacer install up.

 

i have even less of an idea what may be the problem now xD
