Nope, lowest I’ve gone so far is 400 miles and had a little under 1/4 tank left before I filled up. I drive 100 miles round trip a day to work, so maybe I’ll get adventurous one of these days.

Yeah I have yet to have something they'd actually cover, including a broken clip on a piece of trim because it was trim. So yesterday I replaced my battery on my own fully expecting them to upcharge me and not cover it.

You were right on Joe.. I filled up the tank yesterday and divided miles by the number of gallons I used (close estimate) and I got 21 +/- 1 mpg on the trip. It was a trip through the San Juan Mountains, Dallas Divide, Lizard Head pass, and had a headwind on the way there and tailwind coming back. I drove under 65mph most of the way and babied it. So that sounds more realistic. Now I know not to trust the trucks calculation. Thanks for the heads up.

You're right about that. The reason I was mostly doing 80mph was just keeping up with the traffic. Assholes will run a guy over around here.:thumbsup:

The sensor data being used to compute it is such a small sample size it seems almost dumb luck when it IS accurate. That’s why I think it’s helpful on a moment to moment basis to inform you how your driving style affects mileage, basically just positive feedback for training purposes if paid attention to rather than absolute gospel. It works that way when I drive a Prius but since my ‘14 doesn’t have it I use the odo and fuel gage benchmarks to tell. But those just reinforce the info from the butt dyno, I already know how I’ve been driving.

Best I could do was 25 mpg on a straight one way flat road behind a big rig. I’ll take it.

Setting in the draft sure helps.

If yall have ever flown a Cessna 172 youd also find that the fuel flow meters and fuel level gauges are wildly inaccurate :)

To get a positive effect, you'd have to actually draft the big rig, and if you're doing that, you are as they say... "way the F_CK too close". If you can't see a semi's side mirrors, they can't tell you are behind them. You also have no situational awareness of the road conditions up ahead. That is not a good place to be on the highway.

I don't intend to come off as lecturing, but someone is going to attempt to do this.

It doesn’t take a big rig to have people trying it. Most don’t even seem to be trying to draft. They’re called accidents but in reality they’re just consequences.

My brother in law does trucking, and due to his experiences, I opt not to draft behind rig. It all boils down to defensive driving to avoid collisions when possible, although there is always the potential someone will hit you without notice. The roads were mainly single road with 10 plus cars, and I happened to be behind the rig, at an appropriate distance. Brakes on those things are delayed depending on weight so wasn’t taking my chances on ruining the new taco.

You guys running regular or mid grade gas?
I have driven rams for over 20 years. I traded my ‘12 in on my first Toyota DC OR 2 months ago. I like the ability to put it in a smaller parking spot but I will be honest. For a truck this size and the hp it produces it should get 3-4 more mpg. In my driving conditions my ram was getting just over 14 and the Tacoma is just over 17. I don’t hot rod and find myself trying to be more conscious with the Toyota. If I was to accelerate and drive it the same highway speeds as the ram it would be even lower.
