Simple, second truck would be priced at today’s prices

But you would be getting a deal on the truck that is available now and also the tax breaks. You could probably sell it for more than you bought it for in a couple years. How long are you willing to wait?

My delivery window is the first half of next year. I am fairly sure you need to keep the truck for longer than a year to get the tax break. Further, I’d be at the back of the line for a Max Pack if I got a Large Pack equipped truck with my current preorder and the price is set when my vehicle is built which could easily be 2-3 years from now.

So you get the lower price for the newest model when others will be paying the higher price of the same model year you get?

My understanding is that if you place an order now on a Large Pack, at the current higher prices, that you could see delivery in months versus the people that are paying less and have waited. Of course, that is totally up to Rivian and how they want to realize sales.

Sounds like you’ll be “waiting on my R1T” forever. A true Rivian fan boy would buy one now. ;)

In the interest of getting my facts straight, our defender of all things Rivian doesn't own a Rivian and his trusty sidekick on this Tacoma forum doesn't own a Tacoma?

Folks, I just got a drone. Well, my second one. First one was named “Hot Slag: The First of Its Name.” It got a mind of its own on its maiden flight and flew off. The last recorded picture is some obscure blue square landing zone. Now it doesn’t work anymore.

Just got another one: “Hot Slag II: The Slaggening.” My Tacoma looks really good from the air. I’m not sure the Rivian looks as good from the air.

He too hears more than trains in his head that's for sure.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy an R1T in the next week or so. Opted in for one I liked on the prebuilt list. I can sell my TRX for a profit, buy the R1T for $20k under the current MSRP and likely sell it for a profit as well if I end up not liking it. Between the two I’d be looking at putting upwards of $15k in my pocket with no work. Not paying any tax on vehicle purchases goes a long way towards being able to realistically flip them in short time periods and not come out in the red.

I'm in the same boat. Have an R1S on order for the wife, but she is concerned it will be too big, coming from her F-pace. If she feels it's too big, I am thinking I will still buy it and flip it.

Nice! What configuration did you go for? Did you use your employee discount too?
