Good Morning, everyone.

Music lesson and drop off a load of crushed stone to my cousin that raises goats. He said he could use them in the goat pen. He told me goats should have a variety of surfaces to walk on. Yesterday we loaded up the Tacoma with crushed rock and dug out the landscaping timbers. Just need to loosen up the remaining rock and sort of level it up before putting down a mix of top soli and compost.

Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Well, long day yesterday. Tons of traffic on the way to the surgery center - seems TWO semis had separately crashed near Austin, and closed down both sides of 35 - so people were everywhere in the countryside. And then the Dr. had a hard time getting probes in and where they wanted to go - because of her last vein bypass - so what was 35 minutes of procedure turned into a little over 3 hours. Finally got it all done, and there's 4 hours on her back to recover. And to make my wait comfortable, the pinched nerve in my butt decided to come back, making it very hard to sit or walk! Perfect timing. But, she's all good, and we got home late to a very happy to see us Rex doggie!

So, back to trying to get my little truck project on track, and some other little putz. Got a little 5 ton log splitter to assemble! Get to do blood test AND get my booster tomorrow AM.

 

How much rock did they load? I am doing a project that requires decorative gravel and I want to use the Taco to haul it in. I've been wondering how much I can safely haul.

 

And you can operate it and look at it from Scotland.

We loaded the rock into the Tacoma. This summer we decided to remove the backyard pond and getting rid of the rock is the next step in the process. As far as rock payload goes, at most garden centers consider a scoop of rock to weigh in at 2600 pounds. So, a half scoop is around 1300 pounds, still way too much for my Tacoma to safely carry. Most garden centers will work with you and drop a 1/4 scoop into the truck. Now I have a 2WD Tacoma with a stock suspension. I have carried 1700 pounds, verified by the scales at our local landfill and I can tell you that was way too much. I have never carried that much since then. There should be a sticker in the bed of your Tacoma with the payload maximum weight load. Hope this helps you out.

Did get the splitter assembled, and made a little modded pool part!

 

A neighbor made his own splitter and attached a motor that said 5 hp. It was actually maybe 1/2 hp, but manufacturers apparently use a different scale. I told him about that and he put an HF gasoline engine on it and everything worked.

 

.5 HP = 1/2 Hp

 

A bunch of years ago, Tecumseh got busted when their 5.5 hp lawnmower engines were found to produce just over 3.25 hp. I believe they were fined by the feds for false advertising or something. They went belly-up not too long after that, lost their 2 biggest customers who were supremely pissed that the feds had crawled up their asses over the whole mess.

Good morning, everyone. Going to work on removing some shrubs this morning. Going out to see Sara Evans this evening. Tomorrow is a weekend of music at Ocean City, MD and removing some overgrowth at my other sisters home in Delmar, MD.
