Installed my new unit. Everything is working except for the back up camera. I followed another thread instructions on how to wire up a harness to make the stock camera work, but no dice. Gotta yank it out my next day off and see if i can figure out what went wrong.

Hi guys, I've been using the Natika camera linked below and here: https://www.amazon.com/NATIKA-Backu...+7+rear+view+camera+mount,aps,191&sr=8-5&th=1

It worked well as a front camera on my original OEM radio, but now that I installed the joying 9" screen, I can tell it's a bit pixelated.

I see that Joying supports "AHD" cameras which allegedly can support 1080P and higher resolution into the same yellow plug cable that goes into the back. Anybody have a recommendation on a good backup camera that might be better than the "600 TVL, 720P" Natika camera? Would be nice to get a crispy image for a backup camera even though it's totally unnecessary. To be clear, not looking for something that "gets the job done". I want it to be crispy picture quality on my new 9" screen :)

Got the stock back-up camera working today. It's a little fuzzy but it's working. Now to figure out the steering wheel controls. It doesn't seem to recognize some of the steering wheel buttons when I press them to try to program a function. Specifically,
The left and right arrow (although the up and down are recognized).
Also doesnt recognize the center button, or the back button.

Any ideas what may be happening?

Just order the Joying AHD cameras off Amazon. They're like $19 each

Prepaid sim from t-moble works for internet! $20 out the door and $10 a month. While filling up gas, pop'd the unit out, installed the sim and pop'd it back in. Reboot and bingo....4g internet in the time it took to fill the gas tank.

The Joying ahd back up cam that came with mine works great. Great picture and at night, with osram reverse bulbs, it’s like daylight. Absolutely love it, minus it’s not an anytime cam,,,yet.

The natika WD-779 HD camera, has the most crisp, perfect picture, imaginable, like perfect 4k, that’s during the day, and in very well lit up areas at night.

But driving at night, it’s unusable. Any oncoming light blurs the entire screen and the pic looks like 480i.
Then, pull into a acme parking lot, all lit up and the pic turns back into 4k, it’s nuts.
I tried 2 other 1080p cameras after and had all 3 going at the same time and the picture wasn’t even close in comparison.

Joying, 8” on a 2011. This unit seems to work very well with AHD cams.

    Amazon=free returns.

So overall you would recommend the Joying AHD over the Natika then?

I actually just bought this Natika AHD camera but it doesn't list a PN. Is this the one you got?

Volume too low on my unit! Did I do something wrong or need to change my settings.

I've had my 9" JHU no volume button since Nov 2021 and volume is low. When I max it out to 36 its a bit loud but not like the original JBL head unit. Any pointers on getting it louder would be greatly appreciated. It just has the original JBL sound system. Thank you.

I bought a KICKER 47KEY2004 200W 4 Channel Amplifier I haven't installed yet just because of this issue but wondering if there is a different way.

    FYI

if your unit stops working and blows the rear fuse, open it and check capacitor. Mine was bulged. Bought 4 capacitors for 8 bucks, soldering kit for 29 bucks and fuse replacement.

watched a couple of videos on YouTube and voilà!

    fixed the unit.

Alright, i can't figure out what is wrong with my Joying setup- i have the 2 knob, 8inch Joying unit. I was having problems with the Bluetooth audio output during phone calls. THis was an issue from the very beginning of my joying install. From my research, I think this is due to the fact that the Joying unit plays the phone call audio out of the passenger front speaker. When i check the audio output, i am not getting any audio signal out of my front passenger speaker... the front passenger tweeter works and all the other speakers work (driver, rear driver and passenger). I double-checked my wiring and i get continuity from the wiring output of the amp to the front speaker. I would expect that if there was an issue with the wiring to the amp that the tweeters/rear speaker would not work since the amp input is L+/L- R+/R- not seperate channels F/R....

In the Joying menu, i setup the can box type as XP-> Toyota -> Camry -> Amp
could it be a defective can bus adapter box?

Prior to this, i had a 2013 JBL entune unit (retrofitted from 2012 non-jbl stereo- you can see my post years ago when i completed this mod). Everything worked fine with my entune unit.
because of the way i wired my truck, i routed all of the speaker outputs from the amp to interface with the factory (non-jbl) wiring... this way the non-jbl unit could be reinstalled if necessary.
when i connect the Joying as a non-jbl model (using the internal amp from the Joying unit) then all 4 channels work (except my tweeters and the subwoofer....

Lastly, when i modded the truck to entune i was using a 2009 amp- which is wired differently from the 2011+ amp... i have since replaced the 2009 amp with a 2011 and i am getting the same issue

Any ideas? i am stuck here!

Installed the sub and distribution/amp rack. For a Target cutting board, I’m quite pleased how clean it turned out.

O-scoped the JHU sub output and amp output. Calculated amp output voltage was ~27.5V but with the scope it hit ~33V before clipping. Sounding good for an 8” in a tiny 0.4cf wedge. Now thinking of two Kicker down-firing CVTDFs, either 10s or 12s, whichever will fit best behind the seats….

BUT… I noticed the JHU graphic EQ has no effect on the sub preamp output signal. The EQ appears to only affect the front/rears, so maybe the solution is to use the rear L/R preamp output to the sub amp? Ran out of time yesterday to dig into it but will poke around once the sun comes up.

Anybody else with a sub noticed this?

Hi there. For my 2015, this works well.

For microphone, in my truck it's between the map lights. This microphone replaces the stock one but you do have to route the wiring through the headliner. It made a very very noticeable difference and I got the idea from another thread in TW.

    https://shop.enfigcarstereo.com/product/enfig-mic-toy1/

I bought this adapter to connect my sharkfin GPS to the back of the head unit which much better success than the cheap one included. I hear your argument about carplay, but then you are just treating the Joying as a dumb screen when it already has Google maps and so many other features built in. AA locks everything.

Maestro Acc-SAT-TO2 Sat Radio and GPS Antenna adaptors for TO2 Vehicles https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K03PORU

Looks like it's been listed before so not sure why the blue plug on the Tacoma side won't work with the adapter in the kit for you.

True for my 2015 Tacoma TRD OR trim with non jbl entune radio with Sirius radio. Shark fin includes GPS and the adapter I connected from the blue "GPS" plug on the truck side to the Joying gave me a GPS signal independent of being connected to my phone. Much better than the Joying GPS as well.

Install is about 90% done. I will need to mount my Expedition Essentials 2TPAM but other than that it was easy. I do have two questions though.

    1. How do you turn off that obnoxious beeping sound every time you press anything? I feel like it was mentioned in this thread first time I read it through but can't find it again.

    2. How do you hotspot your phone to unit? I have hotspotted my share of things but the tablet won't pick up my phone. Is there a setting I don't have set up?

Is the standard 4GB memory sufficient or is it worth spending more for the 8GB HU?
