Do you pre-heat the lca mount first. Curious how much distortion is created, or acceptable, by the heat generated. Just trying to educate myself in case one of ours needs this one day.

Stitch welds. Move around a lot. Do some on the front, some on back, give it a chance to cool, not get scorching hot all over. Depending on which kit too. The Marlin kit requires a lot more welding. If it were me, I'd just put some welds behind the OEM tabs before trouble happens, but mine are already smushed

They eventually come out, maybe in bits and pieces.

Our 2008, with full records from mile 1, now with nearly 85k miles, has NEVER had an alignment but still is tight, steers straight and never wears a tire. The 2012 has nearly 160k miles and I don't know the entire history before 40k miles. It doesn't wear tires and the steering is straight and tight but I have never looked at those tabs. I figure that's the one that would need attention first. Thanks for explaining that.

I dont have any rattle. I get a little intake suction noise at take off (which I can enjoy). Other than that, no other noise. I used a 3" plastic inlet piece from Spectre Performance over the new 3" hole attached the coupling from Upgr8 and then to the elbow. Set of nice hose clamps to finish it up. Easy Peasy

Anything can be done with a cut off wheel and a hot glue gun (welder). Or if you are wanting to get some lift, I’m sure you could figure out a spring over lift for it. but I was trying to do some research to educate myself, and I’m pretty sure the widths are different, not 100% sure though, my google search abilities aren’t very good

Topped off my brake fluid. It was just below the low level so hopefully that solves that brake light thing that was going on yesterday. Then I cut some holes and ran out of light.

My 2010 DCSB TRD OR just rolled 298K. I got it at 289k from a buddy that bought it new. The only thing it has had replaced is a starter, front wheel bearings on both sides multiple times, the U-joint that connect to the diff yoke and of course brake parts. Everything else is all original.

It was actually Wednesday, but I wasn't on for a day or two.

I spent a bunch to get:
    -leaking steering rack replaced
-failing front brake caliper replaced (along with the other side, because they come in pairs)
-new rotors and pads for said front brakes.

I installed a total of 12 lights underneath the truck.

Here is a diagram where the lights are installed:

After driving the past 5 days I am so happy to finally have the truck level with no driver side lean. That 1/2" lean was very noticeable, at least to me, both driving and parked. Even the wife noticed it while riding in it. The new 2022 Off Road strut assemblies, with a 1/4" driver side spacer, are so much more cost effective than 5100's for a simple level job. Did 5100's on my 2016 at 0.85 and cost nearly double the O.R. set without new springs. The ride is greatly improved. Funny how a modest 1-3/8" lift makes such a big difference. For anyone on the fence I highly recommend this mod.

replaced my spark plugs (2nd time now) and i remember why i cussed so much during the first time i did it. Also found that there was a squirrel living in my air intake! dumped out about a pound of acorn shells and replaced a nasty filter... might be time for cold air intake mod...

Changed the engine oil and filter this morning. Didn’t realize it had been a little less than two years since the last oil change. Truck had only been driven about 5k miles during that period. The drained oil had a slight bit of froth on top after I had warmed up the engine for a few minutes prior to draining it. Hoping it’s just water moisture accumulating due to lack of being driven (or mainly short trips) instead of something more serious. It didn’t look or smell like coolant. I’m planning to drain the oil next year at this time even if the rig doesn’t get 5k miles put on it before then.

Had some fun today. All 3 U-joints and the POS carrier bearing. Trying to sell my kidney to get a one piece but for now I'll have to keep my OEM working some what decent.

Edit: also make sure you get a quality Carrier Bearing if your going to DIY, My second time doing this coz I got an El Cheapo that lasted 3 months.

At $189 I am considering buying another one for either a backup or as a xmas gift for one of my kids. That is cheaper than a good single din basic bluetooth radio and has all the features most people need.
