Hello...i live in a pretty dry and flat area most of the year. (Ft Lauderdale, fl) But a couple of times a year we get heavy rains and possible flooded areas. (Especially if you go to hollywood beach or miami) Maybe a foot or so of water. In some streets. Is it worth it to do the rear diff mod, and move breather at least to bed level.

Id say Yes, do it...if water reaches at least have way up your rim you run into the possibility of water being sucked in through the seals. Its a relatively cheap and easy mod that can potentially save thousands in damage. Just a heads up the OEM valve can be a real son of a mother lover to get off...my 2017 was a real PITA and i had to use some vice grips to loosen it.

Thanks...this is my idea, puts breather at bed level, tire could be completely under water and still out of reach. IMG_20220923_080805131~2.jpg

Thats not too bad of a spot, most people either relocate it behind the driver side tail light or if you have the driver side bed cubby thats where i mounted mine. You can also part out your own kit or by a kit like the ARB one which is what if did because im lazy lol.

Doesnt look bad, its really all you need. Make sure that you give some strain relief to the hose when you mount it for axle flex on uneven terrain. If you dont the axle will rip the hose out of where you mounted it.

    Just some stuff...
I bought this for my 08. Ran it up behind the driver's side tail light. Just make sure to leave your zip ties loose or they will get ripped out.

Btw.....is the oem breather...1 way or 2? Is it just to release pressure? In our words does it let air out only or both?

I believe its just a check valve to release pressure

Do you recommend go with same or install a 2 way valve?

I think the ARB kit that i have is a 2 way which is preferred. That way the vaccuum created from the diff warming up will use the 2 way valve to suck in air and not water through the seals in the axle. I dont think it really matters which kind you use as long as the valve never gets submerged in water.

If you don’t use a 2-way, then the whole exercise is pointless

    It’s not. It’s a 1 way.

I have the kit from state 48 overland. But it looks like it’s sold out.

You and you alone do not need any check valve if you locate it up behind one of the brake/turn signal lights. Others may do deeper stuff with their vehicles. Some people will use a filter, me not.

I hear water /moisture will pool inside the tube at the bends. Any truth to that?
