Howdy fellow Idahoan. Woodford is good stuff. Cheers!

Having some Old Tub tonight, can’t help but thinking of the movie Major Payne when I pour it - “one tubby-tubby!”

The only science I've found on this is empty bottle headspace allowing ethanol vaporization that escapes with each bottle opening. Thus, the whiskey proofs down each time you open the bottle. For the last 1-2 pours, if you consider the ratio of liquor to bottle headspace, the change can be pretty big.

I keep some 375mL bottles and decant 750s into them when they get below half full to minimize this. Another strategy: Use the last pour or two of a bottle for your preferred cocktail. And, of course, only opening the bottle for pours.

Ethanol is volatile and whiskey changes over the course of a bottle because of it. This isn't necessarily bad (We've probably all had bottles better at the end than when we opened them), but it is unavoidable.

Picked up a couple thingies this morning. Keep hearing good things about it and it showed up at the local state store.

I like their barrel picks. I bet the BiB is quite good as well. The 115 proof bottle I have is thick and velvety, which caught me off-guard on first sip. Quality stuff!

Let me know what you have. I've got a bunch of bourbon collecting dust. Nothing rare...

Opinions on the JD BIB I see commercials for lately? They trying to get on the BIB bandwagon?

Hell yeah, enjoy! I love that bottle. Got my non-bourbon enjoying brother to change his mind with that one. I'll never go without it on my shelf.

I forget how good these 1792s can be. This one's a spicy Dr. Pepper.

It's a solid pour for the money. Nothing like Ole NO. 7 which I cant stand. I'm almost done with my first bottle and another is going on the self in it's place. It's in my rotation of bottles for daily drink
