Dogs do make life better. Did you ever figure out what was going on with your truck at silver lake?

Not by choice but by job. He lived in Ohio for many years. He's so weird, when we drive by the Big House he secretly flips them off but I see it

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I thought there was hope for him being in Michigan, but the one star logo on the wall took it away.

Hey @rimfire7 . How did your truck end up doing pulling your camper? I'm thinking about buying one myself. What does your camper weigh?

Hey Joel, it pulled it but not well enough. The minnie winnie is under 5000lbs but I couldn't get the speed past 63mph or so on a flat hiway. I could get it up to 70mph on the downhill tho! i had to keep an eye on The trans temp, when the rpm rose about 3500 rpm's or so the temp would rise above 220 up to 240. So not good. We camped in the mountains in Idaho and Montana. we took back roads to avoid mountain hiways because it was so slow. Gas milage was poor 6-7 mpg. Probably going to get a Tundra when I can sell the taco. Kinda sad about it.

Gears would help but unfortunately tacos are not meant to tow heavy. And 5000 dry is right about the limit of a double cab short bed.

I agree and being right at the weight limit that is the result I got. But it got us where we wanted to go.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I'm kicking around the idea of getting a smaller one, around 3000#. I don't want to be miserable pulling it though and wondered how you guys faired. Get an external trans cooler, heat is the auto's Achilles heal. I have a MT so trans temps won't factor in for me. It'll be whether or not the engine can muster up enough torque to be manageable. I'll have to do some more research before I buy one. Thanks again.
