Maybe it has to do with when they were manufactured? Eibach skimping by switching to a shorter piston rod? Or possibly a change in the piston valving? Since this seems either a harsh issue or no issue it all, and nothing in between.

Wondering how anyone would have problems when hitting a pothole or speed bump. They are *designed* to quickly absorb compression shock like that. I could see having a problem with washboards, since no suspension can handle those properly if they are too long (the valving gets stumped by constant quick compression and slow bleed until eventually they are bottomed out and unable to handle any more hits) but a single hit should be soft and smooth. Is it possible that they are not installed properly? Or perhaps not adjusted properly? Are they set at the max lift? Did you add anything (spacer?) to the front or is it just the pure coilover? Before tossing/selling them I would certainly call Eibach and ask them about it, they are dedicated to making sure everything works properly.

I love mine. Set at about 2.3 inches in the front and a block in the rear and it is level. It absorbs speed bumps and potholes perfectly, *much* smoother ride than factory and I only had 9k miles on the truck when I put these in.

It's not the compression people are having a problem with, it's the rebound. They're reaching the limit of extension harshly....topping out.

I got mine pretty early so maybe it was an earlier batch issue... No clue.

I've spoken with Eibach and they were certain it was the sway bay. Which it cannot be, as it isn't installed lol.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Hearing these issues is pretty lame because I was very happy with the pro coilover kit on my Tundra and was leaning pretty heavily towards getting it for my Tacoma but not so much anymore.

All lighting are led, wheels, tires, 5100 lift, pro grill, bed light, seat covers, door sill protectors.
When I purchase my stage 2 coilovers, I've bought a supreme suspension .5" top plate spacer to add on top of the coil overs. As the coils provides 2.5" of lift after break in, I was hoping I can sit exactly 3". But even at 39" from ground to fender (full 3" lift) I was having that harsh slam on speed bumps and pot holes. I've had lower the coils down to 2.5" and they seem to handle a lil better but I still encounter that harsh ride going over speed bumps even at 3 mph. I'm at the point I'm going purchase a 1" front spacer to replace the .5" spacer and adjust the coilovers to accommodate this. Sucks because eibach makes them sound appealing but after installation since day one, I hated ride qaulity because of this reason. Other than that, it rides amazing on minor trails and the high way. Even my buddy has this issues since installation day, not once we've adjusted the coilover yet either.

Someone needs to tag eibach and make a recall on this, pretty disappointed. Hopefully eibach gives us a replacement/recall for these shocks. And who knows, maybe they'll come out with a full 3" coilover with a resi to match their new rear shock resi ad well. Or give us a 3.5" lift option coilover just like rough country new 3.5" vertex ‍‍

How much you had to adjust to raise it to 1.5" ? I'm thinking doing the same height as I also have 265/70/17.

    Thanks

Every truck is different. I adjusted it 10 or so times to get it perfect on the truck. I think I actually lowered it over how it shipped. I've moved on to different suspension since.

Look up "motion ratio". For Tacomas it is right at 0.5 which means half a turn will raise you one inch.

My coilovers top out every morning going 3-4mph over speed bumps. Extremely annoying and really harsh

    2018 trd off-road
    Stock uca
    Stock adjustment on the coilovers
Eibach 1-in lift block in the rear
5,000 miles since install, they have topped out ever since install

Every single time this slamming issue comes up in this thread I swear at least 5-6 new people chime in to say they have the same problem, surely there's no way this many people have installed them incorrectly or some other kind of user error. There's just too large of a percentage of people with this issue. I've been troubleshooting everything but I am about to finally just reach out to Eibach.

    - My coilovers are installed correctly, I am sure of this, and I even got SPC UCA's thinking maybe something with my stock UCA's could be contributing to the issue.
    - I have no tophat spacer
    - I am below the recommended max lift height
    - I've tried with and without the swaybar relocation bracket and without the swaybar all together
    - I only don't get slamming if I lower them to almost stock truck height

My buddy's truck (same year and model as mine) rides better off-road with a cheap spacer lift and budget rough country suspension than my setup... again, I am mainly stuck on why advertise it as providing lift, then when you set the adjustable coilovers to actually do so, the ride quality goes to crap.

My set up rides awesome. I have the kit set how it comes out of the box and it's great. I'm very happy with it. This set up was meant for 3rd gen and I installed in on a 2nd gen which is a lighter truck and it gave me more lift than what was expected. I put my winch bumper and rock sliders on it. It brought it down a little bit. But the ride was great before and after. It sucks this kit is disappointing so many people.

I'm on the original unthreaded kit on the first clip. Seems like all of the top out complaints are on the 2.0. Is it the same spring? Same preload? Valving different? I wonder if anyone has encountered this on the first version with the clip on 2 or 3. My truck rides great, I have zero complaints. If Eibach has had issues with calibration or manufacturing they should fix it. I can't see a well known company like them dropping a shitty product and ignoring the fact that there may be an issue, Especially where some guys say their truck rides fantastic. It doesn't seem like this should be a difficult fix all else being equal. Has anyone bothered to contact them?

I thought I would chime in... I installed my kit in the spring. I left it as it came in the box. The ride quality over the TRD Sport shocks is so much better. I drive my truck primarily on road but did hit some FSR's over the summer, currently I am not off-roading with it.

With that said, there are a couple of speed bumps that I know if I hit hard enough the front will drop out and can be overly harsh. I adjust my speed with them. Being that lifting these trucks reduces suspension downward travel, I am curious if other kits like Bilstein, Icon etc experience a similar issue. It certainly seems like there could be a little more cushion in the setup at full extension to prevent this. And maybe we could get some feed back from Eibach themselves... @mark@eibach @Ryan at Eibach

It does ride better, and everyone says this.

However, many if not most have this issue of it toping out if the suspension even drops one inch. It's a terrible ride for that reason alone.

It's like the suspension has no chill, it just rushes instantly to max and slams hard.

If I could warranty them out, swap them, or return them I would l. I genuinely cannot off-road at all with this setup.

Unfortunately I can't remove them as I have larger tires at the moment.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I can't believe that I actually wish I had gone with the stage one setup rather than the 2.0's. I go camping on very mild trails/FSRs almost every weekend and get passed by stock highlanders, cherokees, etc. because if I exceed 5 mph every indentation in the road becomes a catastrophic top out.

That is definitely not right at all. I go pretty fast bombing around the hills and whoops on our farm.
