Will mpg get better?

Just bought a 2011. Have about 500 miles on it. Right now im getting about 13mpg. Will my mileage get better with break-in or does something not seem right?

 

yes after break in it will get better, and winter gas is right now so it will get better.

 

V6 here and 16 MPG on the first tank and have been between 18-20 MPG since then. It now has 2k miles and it has been a cold winter up here so I am *optimistically* hoping it improves once things warm up.

 

damn that's good mileage considering all that off roading and add racing to that!

 

I don't know how anyone in CA gets 18 mpg with a V-6 automatic 4WD Double Cab with city driving included in the average... let alone 4 wheeling and racing! LOL

My mileage is and has always been around 16... (new to 20,000+ miles). My 2005 and my 2010... the range has been 15 to 19: pure city to pure highway. Now with my newer, taller tires that now have the speedometer reading correctly instead of 3 mph too fast (at 60)... My mileage figure will go down! So, in reality, I really got slightly less than 15-19 true miles per gallon with the Rugged Trails.

 

my experience. no it doesn't change. my best tank was still the first.

 

I got a new 2011 DC, manual on 1-8-11, I listed every fill up.

1-13-11 14.5 mpg
1-22-11 14.1 mpg
1-29-11 13.9 mpg
2-12-11 15.2 mpg
2-20-11 15.6 mpg

note: truck new, less than 1000 miles, very cold weather, driving in 4x4 thru unplowed roads, hauling firewood, lots of warm up idle time, mostly short trips, longer trips less than 15 miles, driving up long mountain roads.
I expect when warmer weather hits I should get around 17 mpg

 

Summer blend gas is good for at least 1-1.5 mpg on it's own.

 

I record tank-to-tank as well, seems more accurate than the ones that do an overall avg mileage since they owned their truck.

Either way, the mpg is better than the 08 cummins I just traded paying $3.60/gallon for diesel. lol

 

I average 18.5 MPG in my DCLB , and that includes some 4x4 in the snow .

 

I was in the same boat, I traded in a 2011 Ford F250 getting 11 mpg with a 40 gal tank, it was $80 to fill it up and Ford's claim that their new trucks gets 20 mpg is BOGUS!
Plus you were smart to get rid of your full size Dodge cause when gas continues to go up the Dodge will be worthless, no dealer will want it as a trade in cause they won't be able to resale it!
I keep telling the same thing to all my full size pickup friends and they just laugh at me!

Couldnt agree more...all the new "clean" diesel claims are absolute bull...I can say that I fell for it.

 

I have 265/75/16's on my 2010 v6 auto AC 4x4 and around town I get 14.5 to 15. On the highway I get 17 to 18 if I drive really careful and stay around 65 to 70. I have no idea why the milage of some guys is so much different than what I get, but, two days ago when I filled up and I ony got 247 miles on a tank before the light came on I was like...."WTF"." I thought I would get at least 16 to 17 around town. I dont drive like a nut, I am 38 years old, hell I dont drive like I did when I was 20. I am really surprised by the milage. If it were not for that my truck would just about be perfect. My old toyota truck got way better milage....but, it was a 1990 regular cab.

 

I have a 2011 DC with 265/65/17s and about 1500 miles. First fill-up was 20 mpg, 2nd was about the same, and third was about 22 mpg. A mix of city/highway. I don't dog it, and I try not to hit the brakes (i.e. anticipate stopping, and coast as much as possible) if I don't have to. I just installed a Roll N Lock cover yesterday, so I'm looking for my numbers to improve.

 

JTN757: are you saying that your getting 360 to 380 miles on a tank mixed city and highway? Or mostly highway?
