I’m in a special situation in that my partner works at corporate Toyota and I have a TRD Pro solar octane M/T on order. Status says it’s being built right now. Ive so far only been given a temp VIN. I’m anticipating getting deliver early November based on timeline they gave me but we shall see.

I was the same way: fortunately the dealer I worked with traded their automatic for a manual that has been allocated to a different dealership. I was the same way about insisting on a manual transmission.

Me to till I drove one....All 4 of my Toyota 4X4's have been manuals my next will be an automatic. Just didn't care for the manual at all. To each his own I guess.

what didn’t you like about it? Just curious

it’s not nearly as good of a manual transmission as the one in the 2022 Miata I’m trading in. I know that. But the Miata was so impractical. I’m getting rid of my full size truck and my Miata. This is a good compromise for me. I love driving manual transmission vehicles. And I don’t think the Tacoma automatic is as bad as everyone says. In fact, I’m planning to buy one for my youngest daughter in a couple of years. She wants a truck and thinks the Honda Ridgeline is ugly. She was fine with getting my old full-size truck but I think it’s too big for a first car for a short petit girl. And it does r have all the safety features of these newer vehicles. I’m excited about adaptive cruise control especially.

Pedal travel seems way too long and it's lite as a feather which made finding that sweet spot to give it gas difficult for me. Why in the world is reverse and 1st side by side....? I currently own a 1st gen 1999 5 speed, a 2009 Toyota Matrix 5 speed and a 1972 Corvette 4 speed all are very different so I'm used to driving a variety of stick shifts. I love the way my 1st gen Tacoma shifts but the 3rd gen manual is a hard no for me. My wife has a Mazda CX-5 in soul red that she loves and it's the only automatic I drive.

I would look hard at that new Mavrick for her. It's a nice "small" pickup.

Just placed my order for my 2023 Tacoma TRD Pro Solar Octane on Thursday. Build date is the first week of November and should be finished in a month. My dealer is only getting two and I got the second one. I was trying to get the Electic Lime but never could find one at MSRP.

I saw that on my build sheet as "premium paint" option.

Strange is the configurator shows no markup on the paint. Wonder what the fuss is all about.

I'm guessing it's because it's the limited color for the Pro's for 2023. Maybe the Electic Lime has the same 'premium paint" charge.

My wife didn't like the EML color either from pictures but once we saw it in person she liked it, maybe not as much as I did but she didn't hate it.

I haven't seen the solar octane in person yet.

Hey Brian! Just wanted to see how you discovered that Solar Octanes are being released. I’ve been waiting for a Pro ELM MT for over 14 months (deposits in Colorado, North Dakota, and Minnesota - crazy I know). I haven’t gotten solid information on how long Toyota will supply TRD Pros in Electric Lime.
