I am about to order a 2023 Access Cab 4cyl 4wd (thoughts)

Limit it to 4th gear around town and 5th on the highway - that helps a lot since it doesn't have to downshift every time you need to accelerate slightly. Also, don't lift it and/or put huge tires on it and get used to hanging back in the right lane.

 

You got a quick recommendation?

I live in the Bay Area. I have no problems keeping up with traffic or with hills.

 

At what speeds? I've read 4 cyls don't like going over like 65 mph.

Yes, 6k plus labor. My friend bought one from the factory back in 01 02 for his but I believe it was a 6. Toyota should give you the option. I have a feeling 4th gen tacomas will have a 4cylinder turbo.

 

I personally don't have one but a buddy just bought a 2022 4 cyl and is trying not to regret it

Honestly, your best bet for more pep is a set of light tires.

 

So, what's the biggest reason someone would go for a 4 banger? Cost savings? Or is there something else to a 4 banger that a v6 doesn't have?

 

SR Utility Package 4x4 is dirt cheap. 28k.

 

My brother bought a Honda SV with a I4 turbo. I drove it and really liked it. Around 32mpg. Fun to drive

 

Fuel savings and 2.7l engine is pretty legend. Change the oil and beat the shit out of it. They are hard to kill

 

Love my 2018 4 banger, but I don’t tow. My advice: if you tow, get the V6. If not, the I4 is all you need.

 

I just drove from Utah to NY on 33s with an AVG speed of 85.

 

How was your gas mileage on that trip? What do you average with 33s?
