What do I need to remove this lift kit and go to stock height?

Hi All,

I recently got a 98 SR5 TRD OR that came with this block lift kit. I am wanting to return the truck to stock ride height. What do I need other than the stock U-clamps for the leaf springs?

Get a set of new coilovers for up front and then new u-bolts kit for rear,
Good to go

*then go get an alignment

 

Do you have any pictures of your truck as it is now from the side? Also, what size tires do you have?

 

Is there anyway to tell if this is the stock spring up front? I’m assuming it’s just a block up front that I would just need to remove?

It came with the bigger tires but the ride quality was painfully awful and loud so I grabbed a used set with stick size. The big tires ar

 

Looks like you might need a spring compressor to get that spacer out.

Yes replace the rear u bolts, also check for a proportioning valve bracket that might have been changed, possible rear shock extenders, and a rear brake line that might bee too long now.

You have to re route your parking brake cable, it will go above the leaf springs now.

Replace the lower ball joints, its cheap insurance

 

Clean the spring, it should be black with dabs of paint on it. Looks stock to me

 

Do not use a spring compressor to get those blocks out your coilovers.

Those are original to the truck and many years overdo for replacement.

Same with the rears.

Get some Bilstein 4600 shocks, front and rear, and some Toyota OEM coils (or Moog even). Do a full refresh and get yourself a leaf pack from General Springs and get your ubolts and hardware from them instead.

Easy job.

 

Removing the lift block will accomplish what you want. However there is what appears to be oil leaking out of the front shocks.

 

@OP this is 100% the right move. Suspension parts have a lifespan, and the current bits and pieces are beyond that. A full refresh will give you the best results. You will likely need to consider smaller tires too if you go back to stock height, as 33s will probably hit the pinch weld if they don't already.
