    Added a few more by the end of the night. Overall winners were the Elija Craig Toasted and Eagle Rare

    Interesting, the difference between the small batch and small batch select is that the select has the two recipes with the “herbal yeast” which is minty. It’d be interesting to taste them side by side.

    Had some family over last night and told them they could have whatever they wanted and these were their choices. Blanton’s bottle kill. 86E10B3A-455F-426B-87DE-44EBCB93B82B.jpg

    It was an honor my friend!

    Go to a shit ton of liquor stores in non-controlled states, and be prepared to pay well over MSRP. Or get lucky with the coming winter release of the new Stagg.

    So today I was unwrapping all these treasures from my Florida trip and one of the last bottles I came across was a Buffalo Trace. When I realized what it was I was almost disappointed. That means I am a truly spoiled bourbon lover. As I realized this, I gently picked up the bottle, held it close, and whispered an apology. Hopefully I’ll be forgiven.

    What can Stagg be compared to for us plebians?

    Was in upstate SC today. Decided to randomly look online for Eagle Rare at the first store that popped up. It was in stock! It was $99.99! :D:D:D
    Soooo many better bourbons for $60, let alone $100.

    Saw an article in NY Times today regarding a guy who bought a list of bourbon allocations, where and when they were going from a Virginia state ABC employee, then sold access to the list via a Facebook group. Idiot bragged about it openly, now is getting in trouble. Times article is more extensive but it's behind a paywall. Other sites have some deets;

    Guy on another forum gave me some pointers for my FL trip, and also told me a somewhat similar story about Total Wine. Said the manager offered to hold high demand bottles for him for $500 in gift cards.

    But to have the entire allocation plan is a pretty big deal. I assume the state employee was fired. I’m not sure the guy who bought it did anything illegal…
