Getting a loud clunking noise from both front ends when going over bumps while turning (I believe when my wheels are fully turned to one side). Also, kind of a quieter clunking sound when wheels are fully turned and slowly moving. Was about to order some new cv axles until I took a closer look around.

I installed some new basic LCA’s about 6 months ago and had no issue until now. I believe I found the culprit, but want some other opinions. It looks like a part of my LCA is in fact rubbing on both sides. 100% Metal to metal contact when fully turned….but why? And why now??

    That’s probably the problem.
I’d have to go check, but I don’t think the OEM control arms have that sharp corner.
    I think it’s more rounded?

If the noise took that long to appear, I doubt that the stops are the proximate cause. There should be a decent smear of grease on them in any case, so give that a try and see if there’s any change. If not, the search continues.

I just put some grease on them and the noise is gone! Good looking out. Is this just a bandaid though?

Yeah, the grease won’t help long.
Some noise is normal, as 95% of the time “most” turning isn’t at full lock with the suspension decompressing/compressing.

I actually try not steer into full lock more than needed.
You’re putting more pressure on the PS pump and it’s components.

Well, color me surprised. Didn't think that was going to be the source, but I'm glad it's confirmed.

The Toyota shop I use puts grease on them when they service the vehicle, so I suppose it might be something they've learned from experience avoids comebacks. Mine got some grease a year ago (~5K miles) and it's still there.

Had the same thing on my old T-100. They are the steering stops and you need to smear a little grease on them from time to time if you want them to be quiet.
Like @TnShooter said, the stock ones appear to be a little more rounded.
I'd keep them greased and wouldn't worry about it.
Yes, that cam tab should be facing up, you can see the witness mark where it used to reside. It won't hurt anything like it is now, if you're not rock crawling or driving over solid stuff that might be rubbing your undercarriage.

Those are steering limiters so your tires don't hit the frame, apparently there is more steering available without them there but then everyone wines about the tires hitting the frame at full lock. Lots of grease. Rinse and repeat as needed.

Grease on the steering stops is suggested in the FSM. I've done it to all my toyotas with success. It does require maintenance but I usually just smear some when I'm greasing my ujoints.
