Get an estimate and bring it back to them. If they try to screw around with you, sue them.

Same thing happened to me with my old Chevy truck..one of the side rails was damaged. The owner had the balls to say to me "it's a truck, what do you expect?" My quick retort was "for it not to be damaged by your employee!" He then stated he's not doing anything so his insurance doesn't go up and will give me $50 to forget it or GTHO his property.

Sued him and won, he didn't even show up

The "it's a truck so it's OK if it gets damaged" people are the worst.

Sure if I bought it as a work truck and did that to it all the time anyway maybe.

It's cool b/c I have also cost him (a small local business) a lot of sales since the incident.

Even those dump trucks with those feeble tarp arms have signs saying “not responsible for broken windshields” but they are, its the law.

I always harp this about picking things up - if it involves a forklift, loader, skid steer, or anything else that isn't loaded by a pair of gloved hands, bring a trailer. Preferably a rental trailer with prepurchased damage coverage.

Never trust heavy machines around your personal possessions, and that goes double for your own human skin. Anyone who has operated one will tell you how many blind spots those things have - so much that is easier to point out what you can see over what you can't. Add to that a tired operator who is only thinking about which bars to visit after clocking out, and let's hurry up to load this customer so I can get back to dicking around on my phone. So in that regard, thank goodness it was the truck and not a person (because that does happen too.) As much as I say don't put your truck near those things, sure as hell don't stand near them either.

I hope you get it settled with the company manager without much hassle, because as others have said they are absolutely liable. Good luck on making it right.

Report this to your insurance company. They will deal with the landscaping company and their insurance company. This is what you pay them for.

Nope. Been doing PDR for 24yrs,wouldn't touch that. Why? That area is most likely not accessible,so a glue pull would be necessary. And you'd pull the paint off.

I’d call a paint-less mobile dent puller see what they can do sometimes they work magic very impressive, and use some touch up paint

Update. Quote was $1500 and the owner and person who was operating the skid steer refuses to do anything beyond a load of gravel. Now I need to decide if I want to go to small claims court or through my insurance company. I have a $500 collision deductible and I'm sure my rates will go up. Leaning towards small claims and would be interested in hearing advice about that!

I would think this falls under comprehensive, not collision. Generally speaking, a comprehensive claim shouldn't impact your rates, and for this particular case I would think the insurance company would go after the responsible party for recourse. Do you have comprehensive coverage on your policy?

I guess it depends on you. If you're okay with spending the time and getting those responsible to pay for the damage that they caused. I'd say sued them.

Having your insurance go up because of the negligence of someone else, isn't right. Plus, what happens if you need to make another claim for some reason? You'll get hammered by the insurance company.

    It's ultimately your fight.

Good luck, and keep us posted

What @burrito782 is a great point. Look into that first.

One thing I'll add, if the damage had been caused by another moving car/truck striking your parked truck, then yes I believe that would fall under collision. However, for your particular case I'm wondering if it falls under comprehensive since I'm assuming it was damaged by a piece of heavy equipment?

All that said, since the responsible party for the damage is actually known/identified, I'm not so sure whether its collision or comprehensive even matters as I would think the insurance company is simply going after them for liability/recourse.
