I've got a 2014 double cab with JBL and the head unit is on its way out. Looking for options, info, reco's as well as "do's and dont's" so let me see what you have! What brands are good? What brands suck? What fit-kits suck? I'd like my backup camera and steering wheel controls to work. I'm a total audio noob so let me know what's what! Pics of the OE unit.

I've been looking around. Not much on JBL, but some. JBL is an upgrade when new but when it's time to replace it's a hindrance. Those Tesla screens are cool but I'm not tech savvy enough to find and install firmware and updates. Also would like some long term feedback in the head units.

I went with a Kenwood DNX996XR since I like to build my own maps and the Kenwood/Garmin units will allow you to load up GPX files on an SD card. Has Carplay, top quality sound w/ true 5v preouts, CD/DVD player, adjustable tilt angle of the screen, three camera inputs, etc. It'll run Gaia GPS on the head unit too

I paired it up w/ a Morel MPS400.4 amp, MOrel Tempo 6x9 comps up front & 6-1/2" Morel Maximo Coax speakers in the back. Amazing sound quality system, very happy with it so far.

The new Alpine ILX-507. My truck is old so I didn't need to buy the module for oem integration but it's capable of it as well as monitoring vehicle & engine info. 720P HD screen, wireless & plug in Car Play/Android Auto, HD radio, HDMI in & out, dash cam & rear cam inputs.

It replaced my 17 yr old Alpine CDA-9835. So old it didn't have auxillary input or bluetooth.
