I use my truck to get to work downtown and for off-roading - I just have to decide if I want to put the priority on street or dirt driving. Can’t have it all. I’ll either go Cooper or MT.

 

These tires are not loud... they do throw rocks, which is loud

 

I kind of have to get them now.

The SLs are actually 42 pounds. There are inconsistent numbers our there but I called and emailed MT and got the official numbers. Just for your information.

 

I am running the 42lb SL.

 

I'm getting 265/75/16, 1" larger than stock tires.
My goal for this truck is capability, reliability while keeping ok mpg's.
The Boss AT's come in either SL or E or xl I have been partial to ko2 E's (the tires have been bomb proof) on my 1st gen tundra, very similar capabilities to new tacoma.
Trouble is the Boss E rated in this size weighs 58lbs and from "reports" will reduce mpg by 2-5...ouch for dd and be slower, more wear at this weight etc.
The STD, SUV or SL or 116T tire weighs 42lbs. Just don't know if it will be tough enough for backcountry exploration....

If I care about mpg's and towing power, I might have to go with the lighter Standard tire on this tacoma or pick a lighter E rated.

Just called Mickey Tompson. here is the scoop.

SUV Rated 116T tires- 4 ply with 2 ply sidewall.

XL Rated (don't come in 16")- 6 ply with 2 ply sidewall.

E rated- 10 ply with 3 ply sidewall.

 

Can anyone comment on the sipe depth. From the pictures I can find, they look kind of shallow.
Particularly interested in the 265/75/16/116 SL.

I just got my 255 85 17 so far I’m loving them and I can’t wait until I get out and wheel them.

 

Can I get you to comment on sipe depth or take a pic showing depth?
Also, do these in fact measure 16/32" tread depth?

Just got a set today in that size and Load…

Tread depth measures 16/32
Sipes all measure 14/32, except at the block edges.
