Be careful with that rear one. It makes bending your frame after being rear ended much easier. Ask me how I know……

Ripped couple of fingernail beds and cuticles. Took my time. Worth it!

my personal tip before install…Make sure fingers aren’t dry. Moisturize them…lick it before you start sticking’ it.

I have a dome light again! I’ve been driving without the upper panel for quite a while, so it’s all back in. That may not sound like much, but it has a lot going in it. I tied the ground from my footwell lights to the map lights, so they come on anytime the map lights are on. Be it the door, the key fob, the dome light switch, or manually pressing the map light, the footwell light on that side follows. Hard to get a good action shot, but here I am pressing the map light, so you can see it light up my hand:

And now I have my switches as well. I need to tone down that blue, but I did build a separate dimmer into it for just those four as I knew that CH4X4 blue was going to be bright.

The install is nothing. Turn the chrome ring on the boot clockwise 1/4 turn and push down. CCW turn the shift knob off.

Buy a grommet from Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-4-in-Neoprene-Grommet-812048/204275920

cut off one lip of the grommet and tuck it down into the chrome ring. Push the ring down the stick as far as it will go, keeping pressure on the grommet so it will stay in the chrome ring.

thread on the TRD nut all the way, then the knob until it stops. Once it stops, unthread it until the pattern is straight with the dash and then spin the nut up until it locks into the knob. Tighten with an open end wrench.

As for getting the knob, it’s part number PTR26-35070-03 but you have to provide a VIN for a special edition FJ for them to ship it to you. I don’t have the one I used on hand, you’ll have to searched used car sites to find a VIN.

If you haven't, I recommend putting in the brass insert nearest the steering wheel to suck down that side. I also recommend torquing down the first screw in the middle of the of the 3TPAM, then the screw to the left, then the screw nearest the passenger side, the finally the brass insert screw. Also, I recommend getting some U-channel rubber trim and putting it along the backside of the 3TPAM in order to protect the dash. Hopefully this helps.

I always see photos of the finished product, but I never see photos of the truck in total chaos and disarray--let's fix that.

Spent about nine hours working on the seat heaters for the Clazzio install. 2 to 2.5 hours was spent extending the harness from the switch to relays in order to run the heating elements off of my Rigrunner distribution panel. Another 1.5 to 2 hours was spent relocating the keystone mount from the switch panel to the passenger side of the center console. That required About 45 to 60 minutes of dremeling, filing, test fitting, more filing, more test fitting and so on until the mount was properly recessed into the console. The rest of that time was spent on testing the elements, testing the amperage being drawn from the elements, test fitting and re-test fitting the harness disassembling the interior, etc., etc. It's a drawn out process to be sure, but I'm only going to this once so I'm going to do it right.

Back at it tomorrow. Need to finish installing the harness and actually do the seat covers. Then it's reinstalling the interior, and we're done. Last major interior mod until the Goose Gear Seat Delete comes in around Christmas.

I ordered my sister a set of those for her 2nd gen, I included a 1" block for the rear, and it looks like you need a little boost back there as well.

What are your plans to get it a little higher?

I'm excited to see her reaction to how it rides.

I live in Nevada, so I don’t worry about rust too much, but we do get snow.

I'd just do a very small smear of anti seize around the hub flange.

Yeah it’s got the bro lean in the pic but that pic was immediately after install. After driving a bit and getting the suspension settled it’s truly leveled out now. As far as any additional lift, I’ve been debating on what I actually want to do with the bed and if I want to throw a rack on there for overlanding. Then I’ll probably get a new leaf pack on for an inch of lift. But that’s much further down the line when I’m not broke lol
