I was putting my new air filter in and I noticed the coolant reservoir was at the low spot. I'd say it's been 3 months since I've checked it last. Should I leave it for now and when I get back from Colorado pull it apart and rebuild the top end. Only 142k on the motor. No symptoms of blown head gasket. I checked the oil and was normal. No misfires or overheating either. I'm assuming the coolant pasage in gasket corroded and is leaking. I'm hoping to check for bubbles in radiatior tomorrow. Could something else be leaking 20220922_175419.jpg

If you see no evidense of a leak I wouldn't automatically jump on a head gasket. That would be rather foolish IMO.

It does look like you have a small weep ( see the pink crusty material ) but I can't tell where exactly that is on the engine. Maybe pull back a bit so we can tell better where it is.

It's the rear passenger side of the head right, next to the exhaust port. Not the greatest photo but all I could get. Small amount of milkish color residue on the oil. Not the right to be having these troubles lol

You might have a leak above or forward of the pink spot. Above because of gravity. Forward because of getting blown back by the fan. Perhaps a coolant pressure tester will help.

That's an external head gasket leak

Keep an eye on it and keep topping off the coolant level as needed. Over time you'll see how fast it's leaking as the level goes down.

Don't just check the reservoir though, check under the radiator cap too, in the morning when cold (before starting the engine)

Changed the plugs today. They don't look bad. I already had them and planned on doing it anyways so figured might as well. Truck definitely runs way smoother and I thought it already ran smooth as it was

Clean the area where suspected leak is and keep an eye on it. I had same thing red/pink in the same area, but it was from when I overheated, and it pissed out the overflow.
