Well i live in california and these gas prices are about to hit 4 dollars over here!!!
    FML.
Anyways ive been trying new things out and..

Ive noticed that my gas doesnt depreciate as fast when i put in a full tank
and never let it go past the "Half Tank" line

Ive noticed when its past the half tank line the gas depreciates quicker

So end of the story i dont let my gas tank go past the half tank point and
    it has been working :)

Is you observation based on your dash gauge? Or, have you been measuring your MPG at fill-ups and have statistical evidence that you get better miles per gallon from the gas if you have more than half a tank of gas.

Most gas gauges are notoriously inaccurate, and many vehicles show the gauge registering the first half tank slower than the last half tank. That doesn't change the actual MPG, just what the gauge shows. On the other hand, driving around with an extra 10+/- gallons of gas in your truck should reduce your MPG based on the extra weight.

MPG should not be affected by how much is in the tank, I do know it doesn't hurt as much when I fill up or top off at a half tank vs running it to a quarter tank.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
That's because of the sending unit. It has nothing to do with MPG's. Every Toyota truck I have owned does this. Gas seems to "Last longer" until you reach the half way point.

Everything above, plus, when the tank is full the needle is actually quite a bit above the full line. So the first 'quarter' of a tank is actually significantly more than a quarter of the fuel in the tank.

In reality, even though the gauge makes it seem otherwise, you will get better mpg on the last half of a tank due to the extra weight of a full tank. And even that is negligible.
Unless you are calculating actual mpg's, you are most likely just fooling yourself.

It does seem that way though. But as others said, it does nothing to improve MPG's.

Not to thread jack, but does anyone know if a CAI will increase MPG on the tacoma's? I put one on my Dakota and didnt gain squat.

That makes no sense. If anything, running below half tank should get more MPG due to weight savings. 10 Gallons of gas (half tank) weighs quite a bit.

There is something to what the op is saying. As a gas tank empties there is more room for the liquid gas to turn to vapor. When you fill your tank closer to empty more vapor is displaced out of the tank.

    LOL OP is dumb

You're burning the same amount of gas. Just because the needle doesn't move for the first 40 miles doesn't mean you're burning less.

There was another thread that accurately described the graduation and calibration of the hash marks on the gauge - It went something like: from "Full" - 7 gallons to the 3/4 mark, 6 gallons to the 1/2 mark, 5 gallons to the 1/4 mark....
So, the graduations are not equal, and this is why the fuel gauge accelerates towards the bottom.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
It's a closed system that recirculates the vapor and occasionally exhausts excess. It's not enough to quantify a discernable difference in MPG.
    No need for name calling.

Yea, you're flying in the face of physics and popular hyper miler code.

Always let it empty, that way you can be driving with less weight. About 6 lbs a gallon for gas if I'm remembering right.

What I noticed is that my last tank of gas actually appreciated. It was worth 109.9 cents/liter when I bought it last week and then tonight the gas I had left in the tank was now worth 114.9 cents/liter. That's almost a 5% gain in equity in just a week, not half bad I think.

Lets have a fight about how regular unleaded and super unleaded results in different mpg!
I say you get WORSE gas mileage with super unleaded (93 octane) cause it burns faster and more fuel is needed to burn in the combustion chamber.
They say: You get better gas mileage with super unleaded cause the gas is more powerful and less gas is needed to make the same power.
I measured it in the past and I always got worse gas mileage with super unleaded
