1st gen vs 2nd gen

Hey guys so I’m thinking of selling my 1st gen double cab and getting a 2nd gen access cab,just having a little bit of a hard time trying to convince myself that it would be the right move to make. Reason for wanting to sell cause it has a 6 inch lift and I’ve gotten tired of it already and I just want a more comfortable ride in a truck with somewhat less mileage and problems. So the question im going to ask is would it be worth it?

 

“A more comfortable ride and less problems” was one of the reasons, or excuses I told myself to change from an ‘07 F-150 to a 1st gen tacoma. Never mind the fact it’s on jackstands at the moment but I have no regerts.

 

Sounds like your problems stem mostly from the lift.

 

I have both trucks (just opposite) and my mileage is the exact same maybe the 2nd gen gets a mile or so better. I love both of my trucks and I don't think you'd be making a bad move either way you go.

 

I will say my 2nd Gen is like getting into a luxury vehicle compared to the 1st gen.. 1st Gen is more raw feeling I guess. But honestly I kind of like that about it at times. My back prefers the 2nd Gen for sure.

I wou;d do a compression check of the first gen. If its good then you have unlimited miles ahead of you. It is true about the lifted ride. Mine is like a bucking bronco. Raw as hell, and very dirty inside. just had work done expecting a bad rev iew from the mechanic. In my head I was contemplating a second gen. I cant deal with the price right now.

 

Remove the lift and go with stock suspension if you want comfort. Selling your 1st gen for a 2nd gen is a terrible idea.

 

Why terrible?

 

Easier said than done. Do you know what's involved with removing a DB lift? I recommend going SA

 

Second gen is a decent truck. More poooowa and more cab/leg room.

 

I’m thinking about doing the same, for the same reason.
After a day in the desert the wife and I get pretty beat up.
Gen 1 2.5” lift 5100 Bilsteins.
Looking at a 2013 Access cab with the same approximate suspension.

I will say your knees aren't up into your chest and the seats hug you and the ride is way more supple. I'm saying that with the basic bitch stock suspension. Not even Bilsteins. I'm about to upgrade to 5100s or TRD Bilsteins though.

You're essentially downgrading. The 1st gen is a much better vehicle.

 

Can you explain why?

 

Just remove some bolts and take parts off. Simple

 

Why?

 

What do you mean why? I'm asking you to tell me why you think the 1st Gen is a better truck than the 2nd? What is better?

 

Why is it that you think I owe you an explanation?
