Because NASA has nothing else to worry about than who might join the 100 mile high club.

it’ll happen eventually (pregnancy that is) but neutral buoyancy is pretty much the state of affairs in the amneotic sack anyway.

By then it could be much higher. I guess they’ll wait a day or more to clarify the track but going back to the VAB last minute puts a lot of people at risk instead of secure at home or evacuated. Minimal prudence would push it back to the 2nd if it intensifies, there’s no point in risking flying debris. At least there shouldn’t be a surge at the cape if it stays the leeward coast with the storm making landfall on the west coast. I hope Robert’s Rd and 39A get well secured too.
Good news is it won’t hit anywhere near Dymorphos.

How does one become a ‘space sextologist’?

Not for me, but maybe one of the whelps kicking around here could be interested :bucket:

My wife is at the beach near Myrtle Beach, SC. Sent me this pic asking if they was a rocket launch tonight. I'm assuming it's the Delta IV launch.

    Edit
I was wrong... Delta IV is in California. I think this was Spacex.

It’s funny that we think of the elements in the periodic table as being “discrete things” when they’re really just the consequent symptoms of different combinations of other “more discrete things”. A hydrogen proton doesn’t have a tiny “H” printed on it to distinguish it from an oxygen or carbon proton. When we say “there’s too much of this and not enough of that” I don’t think we’re recognizing that fundamental notion. If there’s any “stuff” at all then everything you need is there, all you have to do is figure out how to take it apart and reassemble it. Stars accomplish it using ultimate brute force but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the only way to do it. :rasta:

You should start reading books on alchemy. Everything you said is technically true, but we're not anywhere near where we need to be to accomplish it. Take lead and gold as a perfect example. Almost the same metal, though one is virtually valueless. If you can turn lead to gold without a spray paint can, you'll be rich. But gold is also an example of just how far we aren't. We can melt it, we can dissolve it in a solution, but mankind in 2022 does not have the power needed to destroy it. Apparently we can create it, but it would cost one quadrillion dollars per ounce in 1980's dollars...

It’s a perspective thing. As you say, our knowledge is still very limited. My opinion is that we’re barely out of Stone Age thinking with much more yet to learn than what we have already. Like “Kilroy was here” peeking over a fence getting only glimpses if even that but with each generation though the pose remains unchanged because the fence has moved we can do more than we thought possible not so long before. We can only grasp a very limited “macro” portion of where we are and construct models based on math supported by empirical results to describe those things that are either too small or too big but they’re still only models and not the real thing. Even that which we can grasp is still only modeled. I’m not saying we shouldn’t use models, just that we shouldn’t revere them. Far from it, I think they should be viewed with skepticism as they limit thinking much the same way that the notion of a flat earth limited exploration not so long ago. That too was a model.
To me the even “Laws Of Physics” are more like guidelines but both laws and guidelines still comes with the connotation of a boundary of some kind beyond which is forbidden territory. Sound familiar? Our future is on the outside of both maps and fences.
