    I saw the posts about generators and panels. I'm an electrician, own my own business. Any questions, feel free to PM me. Any "home built" panel back-feeds for generators are dangerous and for a good reason. Any human error and you are back feeding the service coming in.

    Hurricane Ian was showing landfall in the Tampa area yesterday. Today they are showing landfall much further north along the coast. Still over 180 miles from me but I’ll need to keep a closer eye on him.

    I can confirm this…I used to maintain the power lines for PGE. We essentially cleared and/or removed the tall trees growing into or near the lines from Fresno to Yosemite. We had a bad storm roll through one year that took out the power for weeks. Trees were everywhere. As we worked to restore power, we came to a particular stretch of line that had been completely compromised. a couple of linesmen were in the process of stretching new line when they were electrocuted. Someone had back fed a large diesel generator to run their home. But as you stated…they were also back feeding power into the grid.
