I’m going to take a wild guess that they aren’t trying to screw the Meso users, but that they didn’t want the Mesos turning on when folks turn on their interior lights. Which I didn’t think about before but realize now. So I am going to upgrade to V2 and keep the Mesos hooked in as they are. I want the V2 also for the switch functionality either way, but I was excited to also ditch the a-pillar bulk. Oh well on the bulk.

Just need to re-wire the cables from each door to the VLED Y.

"They" is me :) Turning puddle pods on with the overhead switch is weird and I also don't want to impact someone else's product I didn't design. So, if you have the puddle pods you just keep the splitter and the a-pillar harness but unplug the footwell side. Upgrading is optional; all it does is provide switched control of the footwell lights. If you don't have the puddle pods then yeah it'll reduce the a-pillar clutter which is nice, but if you have the puddle pods it just adds the switch capability.

I was wondering if the footwells can be tied in with the @MESO puddle switch? I didn’t want the V2 overhead switch capability. I normally have the dome/reading lights OFF majority of the time. I want to control the footwells separately from the dome.

They can be but you’ll need to cut up both harnesses a fair bit. I think caribe posted a diagram somewhere in this thread a while back.

My version 2 harness is out for delivery. It looks like it should be a quick install to swap it over.

Reposting if anyone like me didn’t really like the rear mounting. You can connect a vled pod and or max pod. They do not link like the strips but you can buy Y splitter connectors and extensions.

just drill a hole and use the rear mounting brackets for the pods

Anyone know the best way to run the wires from the overhead panel to the a-pillar?

So what are the benefits of this new harness?

I just ordered it through vleds, but only because my interior lights started acting up recently. Looks like a loose connection in the A-pillar. I ordered the new harness because I assume the original harness packs into the pillar too tightly and required some wires to be severely bent right where the connectors are located.

Is this an issue and is this the reason for the new harness? Needless to say, I’m not really all that excited about spending another $65 (including shipping) on a new harness to fix this bad connection issue.

How long of an extension did you use from the splitter? TIA

6ft for my tundra from the front passenger to rear center console. Should be a good amount for the Tacoma as well

tundra is hooked up from my existing footwell light.

Tacoma is hooked up from my cargo light. I like to turn them off during day use and long periods of time where I detail.

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom for this issue? I hooked up my V2 kit and triple-checked everything but the footwell lights aren't working correctly.

Edited because I'm a dope, what's actually happening is that the LEDs come on dim with the highlights as expected but don't come on at all with the interior lights whether it's with the door open or just by using the switch by the map lights.

So I'm stuck on why they won't come on with the interior lights. I just rechecked all the connections from the harness to the PWM to the lights and everything hooked up correctly.

Thanks but I'm a dope, I said it backward (because I did have the inputs switched on the first try but had already fixed that), the LEDs come on dim with the highlights as expected but don't come on at all with the interior lights whether it's with the door open or just by using the switch by the map lights.
