Do the math man. Contact patch in square inches times four divided by max GVW. 32 is good all day long.

35 PSI at about 70 degrees Fahrenheit. This usually translates to 31 PSI at 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Set it and forget it for a month or three.

Clearly not true. If it were, there would be no reason to have a MAX PSI.

My 2nd Tacoma and I run 40 and rotate regularly. No wear issues. Plus if I need to haul something heavy I am prepared.

I would think that's more a matter of a worn out suspension on a crappy road. Or perhaps tire balance issues? Or maybe flat spots on your tires?

Tire inflation is not going to cause what you described.

Max is just that, a max. Manufactures set pressures. The door placard is all that matters with OEM tires. Those tires could be installed on a number of vehicles with varying load ranges and specifications.

I routinely run 38-40 psi., with zero bounce.

If you're running 36 psi and the truck is bouncing like that, the issue is NOT your tire inflation.

Fair point on the tires, but the door placard is a minimum (cold) and does not account for a heavier/loaded vehicle.

How many people do you know who haven't added many, many hundreds of lbs. in steel bumpers, frame sliders, sound deadening, canopy, roof tent, refrigerator, extra batteries, etc.?

So, tire can be used on Tacoma or a one ton full sized truck. Max psi is max psi with no regards to the vehicle. Tires do not care which vehicle they are on. Tires are not very smart. However, vehicles have different limits. Tacoma can go to around 6K, others, which might use the same tire, can go to 8K.

Totally depends on what tires you have. There are load E’s which put on a Taco, need 42 psi due to the way they rate carrying capacity at certain psi.

Dealer always set the factory Goodyear's at 35psi for some reason. Got decent fuel mileage, and rode decent, butt they wore quickly... 20K and they were at the 1/2 tread point and that's no bueno for me.

On my Coopers I have found 33psi is the sweet spot for comfort and handling. Fuel mileage is gonna be a little whacked as we're heading into winter. It's a truck though; if I want better fuel mileage I'll take the Subaru...

Perhaps "bouncing" is not quite the right word, harshness however well describes the effect of too much air in a lightly loaded truck, poor road condition naturally magnifies the condition.
