FWIW, I still have less than 400mi on the truck. All stock, with just a soft Tyger Tonneau cover that might influence mpg. So far exceeding the upper end estimate of the window sticker by about 1-2mpg as calculated by miles driven and gallons pumped. It is mainly country road travel, maybe 15/85 spit city/country.

Is there to be expected any increase in economy following break in? On my wife's 2019 2.5i Outback, we are getting crazy good fuel economy which simply hasn't stopped increasing. Wish we could expect the same out of the truck, but it is a truck...

The problem with mid grade is only a few dodges call for it. So the gas stays in the storage tanks for a long time. Personally I'd rather have clean 87 octane than old 89 octane.

Sorry for confusion. I ran regular unleaded in my ram. I was asking if the higher mpgs some were getting with their Tacoma was using a higher octane.
My challenger requires super but it gets over 20mpg and is 500hp.

I think the way mid-grade is pumped is it mixed at the gas station by pulling from the 87 tank and the premium tank at the same time.

A Buddy of mine told me that years ago, it seems plausible because one less tank is needed on site along with one less type of fuel delivery.

I’m running regular gas, 70mph on the highway and consistently can pull off 24mpg with a moderate load with a cap. This is all highway, 20mpg +/- for combined tanks. Best truck ever.

the pump mixes 87 and 91/93 to make 89 octane so there isn't really a tank for 89 unless you are at one of those stations that offers exclusive ethanol-free 89.
