Outside of a full standalone PCM it is the absolute best option out there.

I will say firsthand that now that I am becoming a little more better versed in using it, it is a bit finicky to use in some situations, but it is still the best out there in my opinion. It is a very intuitive software.

Dang... no doubt they should have stuck with the dual 1GR instead of the 3.5l - I've never seen graphs like that side by side. I dunno what the MPG difference is between the two (impossible to say since either engine has never been in the other vehicle) but I would have a hard time believing the MPG increase of the atkinson engine would outweigh the power benefits in a truck - especially for the folks that put on big tires and load it down with expedition/camping gear...

When properly cared for, Toyotas like ours don't get "tired" until at least a few hundred thousand miles.

Good luck with that! Having come from a supercharged 3.4L, I told myself I'd be good with a normally aspirated 4.0. It took less than one year and under 7K miles on my '13 to realize it NEEDED forced induction. If anything, the power on-tap in my GT500, Z06, and even the wife's 340ix only served to highlight the Tacoma's biggest "first world" problem - insufficient power and torque. Having driven a friend's 6-spd Turd Gen TRD Pro, I know your new 3.5L is even more gutless than our 4.0s were in normally aspirated form. You can mitigate it by holding RPMs artificially high but, creature comforts notwithstanding, I don't see you being happy until you supercharge it.

Time will tell I guess. And you may be right. I really wanted the nice options mine doesn’t have. This decision didn’t happen over night by any means. I just believe that capitalizing on its condition now will yield me a better profit then if it had a few hundred thousand miles. I’m sure a regear and a good tune will help the gutless problem. At least for now.

@JuanitoBonito I might be interested in that reservoir and any other cooling components you may be parting with. I've been having some overheating issues recently so looking into causes now.

Sounds good let me know if or when you are. I’ll then take it off. Cooling wise, I have the figgs and a brand new set of HPS heater hoses in red. I’ll give them both to you for $200 or just the figgs for $150.

Does anyone have the procedure for the ecu swap? I want to swap my stock one for my hp tuned one.

I don't know the answer but I would think the immobilizer stuff would need to be synced, etc...
I think it would also help if you posted your question here:

Did you add an aftermarket rad? I had that after I S/C and it needed a seal. I need to redo it but some hvac metal tape solved my problem mostly. I know your manual. My trans was also hurting and added bigger rad with a fan.

we all have been fighting heat here. Depending on mileage check the thermostat or radiator cap etc if it’s not a new one.

Ordered a set of louvres today. Picked them up from Spiked Performance. They are for a cross track but very similar to what @snowsk8air2 added. time will tell how they will fair.

Has anyone used (trusted) a simple on / off toggle switch for the s/c coolant pump to prevent it from running down the battery when not in use ?

Has anyone ran into an issue with it killing the battery? I know a few people looked into hooked it up to different points in the past. Not sure if its been a major issue for anyone that I have seen.

    Those are really nice.

It might be as simple as adding in an add a fuse which you can then wire up to a relay right outside of the fuse box to turn on as soon as the ignition the switched on.

That's something I have to do here soon myself because I'm getting tired of pulling the plug to the pump itself when I'm not using the truck so I can prevent excessive parasitic draw and then plugging it in when I need to drive it.

Yeah makes sense. Adding a kills witch for it in theory when you want to disable it. Similar to our e Fans and other parts. Switch to use or not use. I was thinking of just running to ignition, but I like the idea of flipping on or off. I haven't noticed since I always leave the truck with solar on.
