Water heater isn't that bad, just make sure to take a measurement of the old and new to see if new exhaust ducting is needed (and tape). only use gas rated tape (yellow?) and Sharkbite will work fine :)

had my A/C replaced last year, was 23 yrs old ('98 install) and using R22. got a reference for a local person and $2500 otd I was happy (no need for new lines running out, just replaced exchanger and A-coil. pleasant surprise they replaced the electrical box outside as well)

labor cost is a b***h anymore, but if you can't do it yourself then might as well pay reputable

Still going strong with no smoking. But man does this sucks. I'm hurting in ways I've never felt. Definitely a little bit more irritatable.

We actually have an electric hot water heater, which is probably easier, although I have contemplated using propane to heat the next one. I'm not very good at remodeling. My step son is. I'm just the go-fer. I have him doing this shower replacement, so I hate to bother him with the water tank, for now.

It was an addition we put on in 2000 and pvc is so much easier to work with than copper. An amateur can do it. And it's cheaper.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Based on the original post, it should be in your PM's if you haven't deleted it.

Ahhh, yea they didn't have PEX back then. Any new work I've been doing here I've been converting the copper to PEX. Still have to solder adapters on, but that's fairly easy for me. Worst part in my system is draining the water down. I have two sources of water and a good bit of valves to try and all close off. Not to mention they aren't ball valves so they leak so you have to shut both bladder tanks off :annoyed:

I have a contractor coming in to move the drain, place the new shower hardware in and do the enclosure. This shower is 42 inches, compared to 36 and the pumbing is in a crawl space, which my step son did 22 years ago but isn't up to doing today. We ripped things out and are going to tile the wall. I don't know if the contractor is tearing out the old water lines. I doubt it, since they work.

While I personally would, that would be a pretty big expense now adays. Just avoid touching it as it can get pretty brittle with age.

Sorry, I'm just pretty particular

Go pex. Wasn't there a lawsuit with some chemical leakage with pvc ? Or something like that ?

I just goggled PEX. My step son used that when we added an outdoor water line to the far side of the house. I still have a bunch in the basement. Maybe I will ask the contractor to change it out.

CPVC is junk, gets brittle with age. Go back as far as you can replace and run new pex lines, they are even easier to run than CPVC. The adapters from PVC to pex might be a bit pricey I haven't checked on those in a while.

    Something like these here

I have so much pex I don't know what to do with it. Too the point I was just giving it away. I had bought a huge roll when me and the ex wife were redoing the house.

I don't think there was a lawsuit for any CPVC, but there was some earlier forms of PEX that were. That's all been corrected.

The easiest way to convert to the PEX from the CPVC would be to put a male adapter on the CPVC and go with a female PEX adapter. Used tape and dope for the connections. That's what I did with my copper to PEX connections. I did upside mine from 1/2 copper to 3/4 PEX as I'm eventually re-plumbing the house to get better water pressure. It's pretty darn good now, but if they ever run public water and sewer out this way that'll help a good bit too.

the uponor pex will give you better flow too, the fittings with the crimp rings have a smaller ID than the pipe whereas UPONOR ID of the fittings are true to the nominal pipe size
