Just curious if anyone has noticed any issues with ice/snow/debris accumulation on their cat guard after driving in snowy conditions.
Toying with the idea of adding a cat guard in spite of CT's new laws regarding the recycling of catalytic converters. The ability to sell cats to a recycler (in CT) has been made more difficult for those involved in profiting off used cats, but does nothing in this regard for those taking them out of CT.
I'm also concerned about the impact of the guard on refreshing the corrosion protection applied to the undercarriage.
    Any constructive thoughts?

I always take all skids off before spraying FF. These would be no different IMO.

Also Id think the heat would melt any slush buildups before it became an issue?

Well I guess you need to decide what will worry you more, losing your cats or some surface corrosion. And I agree that you would want to remove it periodically to inspect / treat for rust prevention if you install one.

PS: if all the other states surrounding Connecticut don't have the same laws, can't thiefs just go there to sell it your stolen cat?

That's been my concern ever since the legislature passed the new law.

Only thing I'd be worried about is the shitty security allen key bolts the one I saw came with. I know why they used them but I figure if I need to remove it a few years later they'd just strip. I'd replace them with some good quality normal hex head bolts.

Last time I checked, the entire state of Connecticut was basically occupied New York. If New York state does not have a near identical cat selling statute then your state law will only deter your super lazy local cat theif.

    Check build thread!
I wouldn’t worry about it. My buddy runs one on his second gen up here in Ontario and hasn’t had a single issue.

Judging from recent incidents, it seems that the thieves favor mass thefts rather single thefts.
We have about 3 counties overrun by NYers. I'm in the NE corner that is still somewhat red.
