Thanks for this, good to have on hand - does anyone know the recommended service interval to change?

    Random Misfire ---- Colder Plugs?

Occasionally getting a random misfire that is putting the truck in limp mode. I pull over and turn the truck off and back on, it then runs and drives fine. Its not specific to a cylinder, i have pulled all the plugs and everything looks fine. I know on older model tacos I would run a colder spark plug on supercharged trucks. Has anyone done that on these 3rd gens?

    Cheers

I'd recommend one step colder plugs regardless of having issues or not.

I ran them on my Twin Turbo set up for my 3rd gen when I had it.

Give me a few mins so I can get to my laptop and reference the ones I had/what I recommended in my tune guide supplement. They were NGKs

here's what I have in the document that I provide to all YotaWerx Stryker tune customers:

0.030 is a solid middle-ground gapping that I frequently recommend to people who ask

Forgive me for the slightly off topic question. I have a vibe that’s developed over the last few months. At 60+ it’s a super low wah-wah-wah that goes on and on. I have been running a tom woods shaft that I thought was the issue. I took it to be balanced and was assured that it was but it still makes the same noise. With my two piece shaft, I don’t hear it. But the carrier bearing could act as a damper if it was still there. I called the driveline shop and they suggested it could be the trans or the diff making a vibe that gets amplified by the big one piece shaft. if that’s the case, how should I present it to Toyota? Single piece shaft? Will the supercharger void any warranty on the trans? I’m a little worried at this point. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't think Toyota will give you the time of day if you come in with a complaint about a part of the truck with aftermarket parts like that drive shaft. Why not put the 2 piece back in and see if it goes away?

it does not go away but it’s less noticeable. I guess what has me worried is that if the single piece shaft is balanced correctly, and it’s still vibrating, that means that something other than an imbalance in the shaft is causing it. It used to be quiet.. if its a transmission problem and the shaft is the canary in the coal mine, id like to know that.
I may just drain the tranny fluid to see where its sitting, refill it and see if theres still a noise.

Are you sure it's not the engine surging? This was a common issue with the magnuson tune around 40mph on my truck. I could hear it and see it in my vacuum/boost gauge. The vacuum would flutter from 20inHG to 10inHG in rhythm with the noise.

with the Yotawerx tune I've only noticed the issue once, but I had my cruise set WELL above the highest speed limit in the US lol. I haven't seen it at lower speeds with the tune.

haven’t heard that yet. Would love to hear the circumstances that led to failures. I tow with mine enough that if I were going to have an issue I would have imagined it would have happened by now.

I’ve towed my camper about three times in total. I can’t imagine that I’ve put enough abuse into it to actually do any damage.

Def not surging. I experience that as well. This is a new sound/feeling that I likely would have only noticed because I had the one piece shaft in it amplifying the vibe. I can feel it slightly with the two piece in but it’s much less pronounced.
